I would definitely throw Gates in the convo for all-regions trap. Luca Brasi Story is still his best work to date imo, but STF and even Islah might be in there too.

All iconic, but much more on the drill side of things rather than trap

This tape was really important for trap imo:

Culture/Culture II were definitely influential for the more polished trap sound, but their old tapes are really important too—esp flow wise.

@Donkey Kong Cuntry holy s--- Lobby Runners! Thats a tape I havent heard in a long time. Remember those Streets on Lock tapes they did with Rich the Kid? And agreed on the earlier tapes, it was the trio of the first YRN, No Label 2 and Rich N!gga Timeline for me. Still an amazing turnaround after they flopped on Yung Rich Nation and came back with Culture.

Also can't believe I didn't mention some of Gucci's early 10's projects - Trap House 3 and Trap God in particular were revolutionary.

Gucci is definitely top 3 if not a top 1 mention when it comes to trap pioneers

I wouldn't call Three 6 "trap music" more like Crunk/Horror core

I don't think he meant Three 6 was trap, just that trap's roots can be traced that far back. A lot of types of southern rap laid the foundation for it.
