Jun 19, 2015 http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/david-simon-reveals-plans-1970s-803073 Holy s--- this is going to great Edit: can a mod fix my typo in the thread title @CharlieWork
Jun 19, 2015 I was too young to remember Times Square in the 80's but I've always heard from people who did experience it that it was crazy. Sex, drugs, random violence, etc. Now Times Square is a place for corny foreigners and transplants to sip lattes and get jerked by immigrants in costumes. The show sounds interesting.
Jun 20, 2015 Sweet, that's great news....Simon has a mini-series coming out on HBO called Show me a Hero also
Jan 22, 2016 Casting update on this! James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal will play the leads. Franco will play twin brothers Vincent Martino and Frankie Martino who were both players in the Times Square p--- world, which became a front for the mob. Gyllenhaal will play a hooker named Candy who’s drawn to the p--- industry. Franco and Gyllenhaal are also producers. I really hope this isnt just a miniseries...it just seems ambitious for Franco to comit to playing twin brothers on a regular/yearly HBO series...hopefully I'm wrong though.
May 31, 2017 Def checking this out Some Wire family in it as well...Slim Charles, Chris Partlow, and D'Angelo Barksdale
Aug 8, 2017 just noticed how trailer main picture has Cheese/Chris Partlow from the Wire lol David Simon loves using his Wire actors
Aug 10, 2017 Crazy I created this thread over 2 years ago and this is finally coming out... I love how it's not just gonna be about the p--- industry, the same way The Wire wasn't just about d--- dealing. David Simon looks like he's going back to his strength of world building a distinct city in a distinct time period...can't wait!
Aug 28, 2017 The pilot was very good... Very Wire-like in it's dialogue and that its clear its going to a slow build. I wasn't sold Franco was going to be able to pull off the role's but he did pretty well...its a helluva supporting cast too. I do wish it looked more like The Wire...grittier...the cinematography is excellent and looks like every other HBO show where as The Wire looked unique.
