Jul 9, 2016 Article In the midst of escalating tensions between police officers and the black community, rappers Snoop Dogg and The Game led a peaceful march to LAPD headquarters on Friday. The caught-on-camera police killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile on Wednesday reignited protests about police violence against black people. One protest on Thursday in Dallas then turned deadly when a sniper – unaffiliated with protestors or Black Lives Matter – opened fire, killing five police officers. As a show of solidarity, The Game (real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor) posted an Instagram photo calling for African-American, Mexican-American, and any other men to join him and Snoop Dogg (real name Calvin Broadus) to march to LAPD headquarters to “make the Californian & it’s [sic] law branches aware that from today forward, we will be UNIFIED as minorities and we will no longer allow them to hunt us or be hunted by us !!!” He also mandated that the march be peaceful: “Do not: bring any weapons or anything illegal. Do not come high or belligerent..We don’t need any HOT HEADS or anyone there for the wrong reasons.”
