I got to see this in theaters at the New York Film Festival...it's dope! On first watch, I'm not sure I liked it better than Wolf of Wall Street or Silence, as far as late Scorsese goes, but I'll definitely be revisiting it on Netflix. The film is certainly in conversation with Goodfellas and Casino, but this one is far less kinetic and more contemplative than those genre-defining works (though probably equally as funny). Whereas those films have a distinct rise-and-sudden-fall arc, this has a more long-term view. In its moral reckoning and focus on futility, I was reminded in a way of The Sopranos finale. The much discussed de-aging technology is fairly shaky, especially early on, but you eventually roll with it and it never really takes you out of the movie.

Saw it at the theater and then on Netflix. Really enjoyed it. Especially the soundtrack and the cast. A Who’s Who of Scorsese film alumni, Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire alumni. Even the sitter from Goodfellas is in this. Pesci and Pacino really stole the show. I’m glad this film exists and that these actors had this moment together. This definitely feels like a Swan Song.

My only gripe with the film is how old De Niro is in some of the scenes. The age technology helps, but his voice sounds extremely old. The store owner beat down scene was terrible because he obviously can't move around like a younger person beating the s--- out of someone when he's pushing 80. Would've liked if they just used a younger character for the throwback scenes. Otherwise really good movie

I loved it more days after watching it... I may try to re watch it soon again....great film, I waited for it for years, I am just glad to see Pacino and De Niro finally making quality work together, plus Pesci, Keitel... we should appreciate it because we probably wont see something like this ever again

I’m willing to overlook the de-aging stuff for the most part but that beating outside the store was too flagrant. Also when he first takes out his 2nd wife, he looks like an old man with a young hooker as they walk across the street. Those scenes could have been handled differently.

Yeah I was gonna say that scene looked really poor but I thought he did a great job other than that.

Scorsese has had a very strong decade.
    2010 - SHUTTER ISLAND
    2011 - HUGO
2013 - THE WOLF OF WALL STREET
    2016 - SILENCE
    2019 - THE IRISHMAN
    and the decade before...
2002 - GANGS OF NEW YORK
    2004 - THE AVIATOR
    2006 - THE DEPARTED

    THE GOAT

that beating was kinda funny because you could see his obvious old man moves.. maybe the more distracting thing overrall were his blue eyes tho

Great movie, still prefer Casino, Goodfellas over this but re-watch this...

Ending is sad...harsh reality to any who lives for a long time...losing friends, family etc...doesn’t matter who you are, or the life you lived...rich or poor, criminal or law abiding citizen...famous or regular person....time catches up to everyone unfortunately.

Funny how main actors are all 70+ years old and they have that style of ending to conclude the story.

I can be skeptical of films this long but this one more-than earned its run time. Last half hour truly powerful.

Def Oscar nod for best supporting actor. Either Pacino or Action Bronson
