The moment you realize that Snoop Dogg is more impactful and versatile than both of them.

When it comes to technicality, this is most likely Nas. Jay-Z often rhymes more simply, going for 2-3 syllables and doesn't keep his density as high. Nas will often have internal multi syllabic rhymes and he structures his verses more technically given his more poetic approach to writing. Jay-Z writes based on what sounds better.

You've listened to around 25 you said so yourself, even if it just a little more that's a tiny amount and no you don't have to listen to a gajillion albums like u said...but that amount is too small to have a reasonable opinion in the grand scheme of things

The "serious" tone comes across as melodramatic.

I just saw Jay Z and Nas for the first time last weekend. They're both great live, they're both 2 of the best two ever do it. As a NYer, as a huge fan of both...

Jay Z is the better rapper and artist, and it's not really that close.

Outside of Illmatic, I really don't think I'm taking any of Nas' projects over Jay. And I'd probably take a condensed RD over Illmatic.

what yes you do lol. If you've only heard 25 rap albums you have an INSANELY small sample pool. Hearing more doesn't make you a good judge in and of itself but a small sample pool makes you an inherently worse judge of what makes a good rap album.

who cares people like what they like...you could rank Biggie, Nas and Hov in any order....3 goats, arguing who is better is just nit picking. Personally Biggie is the most important to me, he is what got me and so many other people i know into hip-hop. Nas and Hov are up there but i dont f--- with them heavy like other people.

Every thought conceived is just all over the place. Both songs are just rambling over something in a very broad sense, without a particularly clever touch to them. The lyrics themselves are undoubtedly fun; but they just lack any type of sophisticated writing, they're just "as is". There's no subtext, they're very simple lyrics. While you may enjoy them, which I do too, to call them sophisticated is simply false.

Why WOULDN'T you write based upon what sounds better? You're writing music, you're supposed to make it sound good.

Did I say you shouldn't? It doesn't mean Jay-Z is any more technically gifted. I am answering the question of who's more technical, not who's better. More technical doesn't mean better.

Illmatic > RD > The Blueprint > The Black Album > IWW > Stillmatic > The rest of Jay's projects IMO
