Apr 21, 2025 at 5:27 PM My thoughts on episode 2: First off before I get into spoilers, I just gotta say I love how they included the song Ellie sang in the reveal trailer of the game: It’s such a cool detail as not only is it a beautiful song but it’s something that not everyone who has played the game would notice since it was only in the reveal trailer. It’s a nice way to once again get Ashley Johnson included in the show. I also gotta shout out the acting. Everyone was good but Bella, Kaitlyn, and Pedro were amazing. Well, I suppose the rest of what I have to say is gonna end up in spoiler territory other than what I mentioned earlier like the infected invasion on Jackson. The invasion was awesome and something that would’ve been cool to see in the game but the game was already long so I can see why something like this didn’t make it. It added a lot of anxiety to an already anxiety inducing episode and should satisfy those who thought season 1 didn’t have enough infected. Now onto spoilers… I will also be talking about things that I assume will make it in future episodes so if you haven’t finished the game yet I suggest not reading the spoilers even if you have seen episode 2 already. Spoiler The fact that we are seeing Abby’s backstory BEFORE she kills Joel is crazy and makes this story a lot different. I think people are gonna have a harder time hating Abby in the show than they would in the game. It’s already easier to be sympathetic to Abby in the show. One could say that sucks since it takes away a twist from the game, but I think this will still work. We start the episode seeing what Abby was dreaming about in the game. At first I didn’t know how to feel about the future version of Abby talking to her past self, but then realizing it was a dream made it better. It did make for an interesting look into Abby’s mind about where she was then and where she is now. Abby wants to stop herself from seeing her dead dad. It makes me wonder if we will even see that scene now. I like how Jessie is getting more screen time. He barely got any screen time in the game which made his death feel like it didn’t mean much. This time around it will be much more impactful. It does s--- that this results in us not getting Ellie’s and Dina’s scene in the weed bunker but oh well. I think they will try to develop Ellie’s and Dina’s relationship in a more meaningful way. Now let’s get to THE scene. Man, that was f---ing brutal. The fact that they made it even more vicious and heartbreaking than the game is insane. While show Abby is not muscular like game Abby, she is wayyyyyy crazier, more vicious, and more emotionally unstable. They not only did Joel’s death scene justice but they made it better. Abby actually explaining everything to Joel, telling him that he killed her dad, made the scene so much more satisfying and again this is why I think people will have a much harder time hating this Abby. In the game Abby doesn’t really explain much to Joel but I guess that’s because they wanted to keep Abby’s backstory a secret until the second half of the game. My only nitpick is her mentioning that Joel is handsome. I get that it’s a descriptor people gave Abby of Joel and it’s not necessarily a 100% serious comment, but it took me out of the moment for a bit especially since that wasn’t in the game’s scene. I get that Pedro Pascal is handsome but Abby calling Joel handsome before she’s about to k--- him just seems kinda stupid to me. It should be a 100% serious scene with no humor whatsoever. The scene was still amazing though so like I said it’s just a nitpick and not a big deal. Other than that I’m so glad they knocked this scene out of the park. Tbh I’ve seen it in the game so many times that I became numb to it in the game so I was worried I wouldn’t feel anything watching the show but those worries were put to rest. I’m glad they have been making so many changes, they have all pretty much improved upon the game. Abby repeatedly hitting Joel’s shot leg with the golf club while he shrieks in pain was insane and we later see that she did this so much she broke the golf club. Then she’s just punching him in the face over and over again until he’s a bloody mess. After all that she stabs the broken golf club into his neck. What a f---ing shot man that was like a Mortal Kombat fatality. Bella’s acting as Ellie reacting to Joel being tortured and killed felt very real and heartbreaking. In the game she eventually gets knocked out but here they changed that and made the scene better. Ellie crying and crawling over to Joel’s lifeless body and lying next to him was just devastating to watch. The fact that we then have to see them dragging Joel’s dead body across the snow was extra salt in the wound. I really can’t wait to see the reactions of the people who haven’t played the games.

Apr 21, 2025 at 7:28 PM Spoiler: Spoiler I think they'll hate Abby just as much. Even though they gave up the surprise earlier, people LOVE Pedro Pascal. And he was the heart of the show. She's actually already getting some hate on her social media because people are weird. I agree the handsome thing is weird and out of place. Even in the opening of the first episode she made that crack. I started replaying the game since it's been a while and they definitely made that scene more gruesome. I just hope the rest of the case can carry the remainder of the series without him. He'll probably still be a big part in flash backs like he was in the game though
Apr 21, 2025 at 8:52 PM Good point. There’s always these weird people who take fiction too seriously and hate on the actors because of what their characters did. I just don’t understand it, there’s gotta be something wrong with these people who can’t separate fiction from reality.
Apr 21, 2025 at 9:27 PM Another thing that slightly bothered me is when Abby was doing her speech to Joel talking about you don't k--- unarmed helpless people. Her dad literally was going to k--- a child without even letting her know. Joel should have talked a little more s--- Spoiler: Eugene I'm interested to see where they're going with the Eugene character. In the game he was just a side note for when Ellie and Dina found his weed hideout and he was already dead from what sounded like old age. But now he's the the therapists husband and Joel killed him. But the way he did it was f----- up according to her. Then Ellie and Jessie were talking about him in the 7-11 and Jessie mentions it was f----- up but Joel had to do what he had to do. Ellie looks clearly uncomfortable like she knows more about the situation than he does. They also show he's a firefly so maybe he gave up Joel and Joel killed him and framed him as being infected

Apr 22, 2025 at 9:29 AM Is that confirmed? The creators have been saying no for years and they shelved the multiplayer game. Although with the backlash from part 2 I'm sure they'd keep it under wraps for at least a year from release. Would be nice to have a proper ending

Apr 22, 2025 at 2:15 PM It’s not confirmed but very likely in my opinion. We’ve been getting rumors about the game for a while from reliable sources like ViewerAnon who have been right about a lot of things in the past. Apparently they already started filming scenes for the game. A few years ago even Neil Druckmann was in the Grounded TLOU2 documentary and basically talked about how he had a concept for TLOU3. It’s only until their new game was revealed and only until TLOU season 2 is about to come out that he switched up and said not to bet on a TLOU3. People say he has a track record of doing that to put a focus on the new products and keep up more of the surprise factor. It’s very possible he’s not lying and the game got shelved like the multiplayer game did or something just didn’t work out but I find that unlikely. Neil has been talking recently about how he wants to take a backseat soon. But idk, with how popular TLOU has been getting these past few years I have a hard time believing they’re not trying to make a third one. I think the ending of TLOU2 leaves open the possibility of a third one
