Jan 29, 2017 Well, i'm no expert, but isn't emulation known for being inefficient? The emulation itself requires it's own set of resources and then the game is processed through the emulator. My little theoritical knowledge from computer science class tells me that unless you have a high/mid pc you wont't be running that very well. Nice....alot of wii u games i didnt bother buying. Might get to them without replacing my borken one.
Jan 29, 2017 Nah not really honestly, I've always been a big Nintendo fan and I don't spend a ton of money on video games anymore so it's not a big deal. I got a lot of use out of it for smash alone. It's def their least-realized console with the least amount of essential games but there were still enough that I can validate my purchase.
Jan 30, 2017 Just picked up a Wii U + Wind Waker off Craigslist for 75 bucks. Only thing I had to do was order a charger for the gamepad, dude said his dog chewed up the charging cord. Wont be able to afford a Switch for a minute and aside from the new Mario I'm not in a rush to get it, luckily I'll be able to play Breath of the Wind now tho. I'm sure Wii U games bout to get cheap too.
Jan 30, 2017 im like 90% sure you are right on this, but i'm also fairly certain the average gaming PC has more than enough RAM to make up for it, though there'd still be minor discrepancies in performance across the board. Like the games were made to run on wii u, not PC, so there will be bugs present at certain points, but for the most part a decent graphics card with 6gb+ of ram should run any game just as good as a wii u, if not better. fair enough, i've gotten too picky since delving into the world of game design - it makes majority of s--- in games now look lazy/uninspired. I'm also a perfectionist kinda when it comes to my work, and since im planning on working on games in the future i think that has carried over and i just go "well wii u runs in 720p sometimes 1080p, where as wii u emulator runs at 1080p sometimes 4k. nintendo are a s---" but at the same time i still praise nintendo because they literally created the open world meme that games are following today, 19 years ago, with legend of zelda/mario 64. small things like Z targeting (a staple in nearly any third-person game) wouldn't exist today if not for legend of zelda, ocarina of time.
Jan 30, 2017 @Coco I bought a new3ds when Majoras Mask 3D came out solely because I'm a Zelda fan... It's my favorite series of all time. I'll do the same with the Switch. I have no interest in the other games but I gotta play this. I don't have a WiiU and if I'm gonna spend $200 on a WiiU, I might as well spend $300 on the Switch instead. I view the Switch as a way to sell a new console and it's working. To this day the only other game I really played on my 3ds was Pokemon. I'm getting my taxes back soon and this is what I'm getting. Zelda above all. Once I'm done with it, I'll probably never touch the Switch again. Maybe I can rent one or something lol
Jan 30, 2017 The only thing that bothers me is that the Switch isn't backwards compatible with WiiU... I'd like to play the HD version of WW and TP. i guess I'd get more out of a WiiU but it seems dumb to buy one when the Switch is here already.
Jan 30, 2017 this is another money making meme for game devs. they remove backwards compatability so they can sell you the game again on the switch e-store as a digital download - why sell a game once, when you can sell it twice?
Jan 30, 2017 It seems like Nintendo makes like 50% of its profits now from selling people the same game 7 times throughout their life. Like with the mini nes
Jan 30, 2017 It is pretty hilarious how they haven't figured out how to manage online services. If you own a Wii, DS and a WiiU, you have to have 3 separate Nintendo accounts with games tied to them all it's an abomination
Jan 30, 2017 I'm pretty confident that Nintendo is going to deliver. This is their first real attempt at a full fledged open world game and it's Zelda, their biggest franchise and Nintendo games tend to have extra soul put into them compared to the s--- from Sony and Microsoft. They are bad at a lot of things but Zelda isn't one of them.
Jan 30, 2017 the other 50% is from pokemon handheld games I know it'll be good, just feel like the whole zelda magic is lost, it's been almost 20 years. Its kinda like, i see the whole switch/zelda thing a step in the right direction, but it's not a step and they have their whole franchise riding on it.
Jan 30, 2017 Just depends really... Link Between Worlds was a GREAT game for top down 2D Zelda and Skyward Sword is objectively the best Zelda yet... it just has the horrible wiimote gimmick and stamina system, etc but the actual gameplay was great and the story went further than usual from a Zelda. Windwaker stands the test of time with its cell shaded graphics that everyone hated and now it's one of the most loved. I think this will be the same way. Everyone hates the new Zelda when it comes out but then we don't get one for 4 years and you realize the past games were great. I see each Zelda as a Eminem album. They are all different approaches to the same formula and when you go back and listen you realize they are basically time capsules with their own unique feel #slimzelda
Jan 30, 2017 Now we'll have to pay for networking, so i assume that there will be a properly maintained service for the s--- ton they want to charge me, and hopefully rewards.
