Nov 4, 2015 Anthony Fantano AKA The Needle Drop has dropped a video discussing To p---- A Butterfly and the criticism it has received from music listeners, journalists and critics in regards to it being a controversial and overly political album. In the video below he argues why this is not the case and gives a breakdown of some of the albums themes and intentions. I also think that this is a slight indirect response to this recent Complex article: Why Did Everyone Claim to Enjoy Kendrick Lamar's 'To p---- a Butterfly'? I personally think that he shares some great points and I agree with a lot of what he says. What are your feelings? Do you agree with what Anthony says? Does TPAB deserve the backlash that it has been getting?
Nov 4, 2015 nope. no more fantano threads. we're done here. (there's also been no backlash against the album. it's against the music criticism industry.)
Nov 7, 2015 Only watched the first 8 minutes, while I agree with what he said, it's not exactly related to what is actually going on.
Nov 7, 2015 how is it NOT controversial? I get people arguing "its not that good". I get people saying "it's not a classic". I get people talking down on certain points of the album. I cannot understand how this album isn't/wasn't controversial. The fact that people still blog/post/talk/discuss s--- off this album as much as they are now, is proof it's controversial.
Nov 7, 2015 I agree with what he's saying but I'm not sure what that had to do with either of the written articles.
