That, and his attorney kissing and smuggling drugs for Naz really seemed out of character. I was outraged at that plot line.

Hopefully we find out more about Naz's background in season 2, which will hopefully explain why he became an full fledged prison junkie overnight.

The Night Of actually has a story to continue telling. TD S2 had to establish all new characters and plot within a single season.

There are still so many unanswered questions. Mainly: Who killed her

    It'll definitely be back.

I think it was pretty clear that Raymond Halle killed her. They had his car going through the toll and pulling up in the area around the time of the killing and they said they were going to go after him before it ended. I don't think there's anymore to milk out of this.

Is that part really that unbelievable though? It's what happens. They are so f---ing bored and helpless in there. Probably really easy for somebody like Nas to do that, given his personality and what we know about him. He probably thought that his future was a closed book. I thought that the tattoos and the sudden muscle gain were silly. though. Not sure how long Nas was supposed to be in there but he would need to spend some more time in prison before having changes that dramatic.

I read that the second season of the British series focused on a woman who frequently gets beaten by her husband, and her subsequent arrest after she finally breaks and stabs him.

Like Tone said, f---ing True Detective has caused me to forever question any crime drama's ability to continue or start a new story within that genre. I will always watch these type of shows, expecting disappointment to be waiting right after the next commercial break to sucker punch me.

Maybe shows like this and Fargo can help. If there's a story to tell, I hope they do so, and it'd be awesome if there were some characters who reappeared from S1. But I hope they don't just milk it because TNO was pretty much a critical success. Not sure about the ratings, though. But so was TD. There I go again. It's just, it was so f---in' bad. Aside from that one episode where there was a shootout that took up about a quarter hour of the plot, it was so awful. And omg I was so happy when all the characters died. There was that tiny bit of redemption. Except Rachel McAdams lived and she played the most unoriginal, transparent, predictable dipshit character ever. "I wanna be respected as a woman living in a man's world, though I still get ahead via my vagina, but I don't get attached because I'm pretty much an emotional robot."

Idk if u remember the Stanford prison experiment but innocent ppl were sent in to prison for a couple weeks while knowing they were there for an experiment and began changing completely psychologically. Now if u look at Naz, a Muslim, thrown in to rikers and accused of murdering a girl it's kinda expected he will do whatever it takes to survive. Also, I think the timeline of the show has him in the prison for like 4-5 months. The show did a great job of showing how broken the whole prison system is

I've never seen that, sounds interesting. I could totally believe the protection part, no doubt. I just thought him shaving his head, tattoos on his hands, neck and the drug use, which was all voluntary, was a little bit too much. If he was threatened to do so, kind of like smuggling in the drugs, then I could see it.

Totally agree @Kvp187 I think Nasir was just submerged into a world he knew nothing about, but as the show begins with his relationship with the basketball team, and being invited to a party... Maybe he just felt eager to dive in all the way when he felt like he'd been accepted into Freddy's world. I dunno. I just think it's totally possible that he had always wanted to explore an urban environent, due to his upbringing, and I doubt that prison was the setting he was hoping to study, but he used what he had to work with...

I like that final scene with Stone, when the dude who sold him out for selling Aderall walks in and Naz just stares him down until the dude walks away, accepting his newly grown vagina, then Stone looks at him and says "See, you learned something."

Yo, on the real, Naz last scene made me tear up I'M NOT A p---- I'LL f--- YOU UP SEE WHAT HAPPENS because it just shows two totally different people. You got this innocent Muslim dude, hanging with this beautiful girl, scared to take ecstasy, and at the end, he's sitting in the same spot he shared with her, free basing cocaine to help himself cope with a life altering experience.

But also, I just felt a bit more enlightened to Andrea's situation since they delved further into it. She's just trying to escape from all this pain, surrounded by vultures that want things from her and she finds this shy little Muslim dude who she's sorta mesmerized by cause he doesn't want anything from her. Except maybe to f---. But other than that... You know.

Naz said during the trial, that was the second time he had sex. I wonder if there will be a third, sex has to be pretty traumatic when your partner is murdered afterwards and you get framed for it.

Yea you should check it out. Within a couple of days the test prisoners start acting like the other prisoners and some can't even handle it and drop out 2-3 days in. I think him getting tattoos was a bit of overkill just to sell the image of change a little further but I don't think the drug use or drug smuggling was far fetched at all.

yeah I agree...well the drug smuggling was forced so obviously he had to do it. He didn't do it voluntarily.
The biggest twist to me was how Freddy, who seemed to be using him, actually helped him out. When he got that video I thought he was going to use it to f--- Naz but he was actually trying to get a mistrial to help him out. He could of clearly got the video of him smuggling drugs in the cell from the chick but chose not too....then at the end he didn't say good bye.

Michael Williams is a goat actor. He always plays that unlikely hero: the wire, boardwalk empire, night of. When he first went to look at the video I thought it might've been the video of Naz getting drugs from Chandra. Then when stone was using the video to get a mistrial I was like d--- Freddy :mjcry:

all the female characters were incompetent, ~corrupt or wretched. all the black characters were ~scary except omar, who was kinda a thug bagger vance. whole plot twist is based on rly unfounded, truly remarkable legal and police missteps that don't feel earned. (thats to say, the show made a point early on to underscore how lazy and indifferent the system is.... and then suddenly chandra is stuffing drugs up her vagina and violating defense law 101: dont put the defendant on the stand. its just ridiculous, egregious storytelling.)

i liked the show as a whole that said. but just felt let down by how conventional and ~bleak oooo~ it was by the end

thats how it needed to be tho

grime is everywhere - in the police, in the lawyers, in the criminals themselves

who cares that some of the females had bad qualities or that they showed some black criminals on the show.. thats what NYC is

I really hope it doesn't come back. Who killed her? Probably the financial adviser, maybe someone else. To me the story was never about resolving the case as much as it was about how s-----y the justice system is and how freedom comes at a price. Naz is free but on drugs and viewed as a criminal in his community. Kapoor's career is pretty much over (They could have done a better job selling the kiss and drug mule angle. I guess I'll chalk it up to her being a rookie, just broke up with her boyfriend, stressed out). Freddy is still in jail. Stone had his moment of triumph. Life goes on, wheels of justice keep turning however broken they are, etc. Shows like this, True Detective, Bloodline are one season type of shows.
