There will always be corruption. With that being said, the U.S. today is a much better nation than it was in the 1800s. That’s because our ancestors took action to improve the country. Idk why you brought up banning guns @Caine. Pretty irrelevant to the post of mine you quoted.

The civil rights movement wasn’t that long ago my dude lol. 50 years in historical context is a blink of an eye. To show you a more recent example though, a couple weeks ago teachers & school staff in West Virginia went on strike for better pay & working conditions & they won.

1. This is a loaded question. What specifically is meant by “mentally ill"? So someone who's depressed or something can't buy a gun to defend their home? Most people wouldn't support that.

2. Wait, didn't you call Trump racist for supporting this one? HAHAHA. And this is not much different from wanting to bar violent criminals from owning firearms.

3. No surprise here. We've already had background checks for decades.

4. Another misleading question. There's no such thing as an assault weapon.

Many people appear to support, or at least tolerate, some forms of existing gun control, such as background checks. This is true. What I should have said and what I really meant to say is that there is no national cry for stricter gun laws, generally speaking. That is, most Americans are not pro-disarmament.

Those aren't regular people. They're fanatics.

I'm just saying protesting solves nothing anymore unfortunately, especially on a large scale like changing the government and passing huge laws, it's pointless

Might work for some teachers in West Virginia but not when it's about impeaching a president, changing who can own guns, what guns are legal, etc.

That’s simply a mindset issue. The Clinton administration passed gun control legislation in the 90s with the Brady bill/assault weapons ban. Things can & have changed — you just can’t be a lazy a--- & have to actually be vocal & take action. Im sure there were people who thought slavery would never be abolished or that black people wouldn’t ever get the right to vote or that gay couples wouldn’t ever be able to get married etc.

1. Uhh...someone with a classified mental illness. No someone suffering from depression especially shouldn’t be able to purchase a firearm wtf. They pose a danger to themselves & the people around them.

2. No? If you’re too much of threat to fly on an airplane, you should t be able to legally purchase a gun.

3. Not for private gun salesmen. That’s why the gun show loophole exists in many states.

4. Banning assault style/military grade weapons is misleading?

Support for gun control is at the highest levels it’s been at in decades. Most citizens do want it — hence why we have thousands of people, including teenagers, protesting/marching in the streets.

Again though, the Clinton administration passed gun control laws in the 90s. That wasn’t long ago at all lol. I don’t know why you guys are painting it like this unmovable object when it’s not.

Also, how do you define “large scale?” A state-wide teacher/staff strike is by no means small. During the Vietnam war, people marched & protested for YEARS before the U.S. withdrew their troops. This mindset of protesting being pointless because change seemingly takes too long is just lazy & all in all pretty un-American.

I participated in the walk out yesterday like a lot of students across the country did. I also protested when trump initially put in place his travel ban & multiple people were being detained at SFO because of it. I don’t have s--- to prove to some guy who posts with a Jared Kushner avy for shock value lol. If you don’t believe me, don’t believe me. I couldn’t care less lol.
