PIX11 reports:
“I look around, saw a lot of kids, a lot of young people,” said Armani, a 10-year NYPD veteran and father to a young daughter. “We both look at each other and I go, ‘We’re going to go, but I’m not going to have anyone else go with us.'”
Armani drove their van, sirens flashing, eastbound to 46th Street and Sixth Avenue, the officer said. The two officers spent the drive saying their prayers with the intention of getting the device out of harms way, Armani said.
Once they stopped, Cybulski proceeded to pick it up and hand it to Armani who took it from the van and put it on the sidewalk away from the public and buildings.
When both NYPD members were a safe distance away, they requested bomb squad.
…
The man suspected of throwing the device at the patrol van was later spotted at Columbus Circle, where police engaged in a six-hour standoff Thursday, according to police.
Officers arrested 52-year-old Hector Meneses of Queens around 8 a.m. after he barricaded himself in his vehicle and negotiated with police for several hours. Police closed off the area around Columbus Circle for hours, disrupting traffic and public transit throughout Manhattan.
The bomb turned out to be fake, but the officers had no way to know that. These heroes did something that very few people would do in a similar situation. They decided to sacrifice their lives for a chance to minimize the risk to other lives in the area.
Spread the word that heroes like this exist.

Haha I stay indoors when I'm high, sadly my skin-tone and red eyes would get me thrown in a car.
But on a serious note it's something a couple of us have been traumatized about. I remember when I lived in the Bronx it was pretty common to see cops slam people on cement and very rarely did it happen but we sometimes heard helicopters at night when they were conducting a raid. I remember one time I was walking with my mom and a cop questioned us where we were going and what was in the grocery bag we had, obviously we had nothing suspicious but the impending fear made us nervous and my mom's English at the time was still a bit green so it was a tense situation. It's small things like that and others could probably share worse stories that have given us a negative perception about police.Enigma, Skippy, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and 1 other person like this. -

Here's a funny question for you guys, when was the last time you ever felt secure or even comfortable the moment you see a police car or even an officer?
I've always felt there is a giant discord and division between the general public and those in law-enforcement, whether you believe the recent turn of events involving police brutality has been over-sensationalized it's a further reflection of the long-going abuse of power and the lack of preparation to protect themselves and the citizens in any circumstance or situation. Whether it's the difficulties of dealing with communities that are deeply disenfranchised or the deep-rooted racial relations that continues to surface it's ugly head, for the sake of avoiding further Dallas and Ferguson's it should be paramount that law-enforcement does receive the proper training and recruiting to handle the responsibility.Enigma, Cerrone, Soldier and 1 other person like this. -

Yes, think for a bit. People have said egregiously racist things about Obama throughout his term. I'd characterize some of the opposition against him -- certainly their tonal choices -- as deeply racist. ("How dare this black b------ challenge my worldview/me/my "principals")
He's also, ya know, experienced actual, upfront racism throughout his life. He's written books, and given speeches, about the subtle challenges of being black in America.
Honkey is somewhat racist, but it's suchhhh a goofy toothless word. But I'm polished and UMC. If a black person said honkey to a hillbilly in the deep south, they might have a different reaction. So, words have a range of values depending on the time period/location. Given this country's history with racism, obviously derogatory terms for black people are farrrr worse. It's definitely not an eye-for-an-eye t-t-for-tat.

There are good individual policemen for sure, but the system of unaccountability and treating people of minority in an inhumane manner a disgusting recurrent cycle that needs to be addressed. Simple.
What people are asking for is very straightforward. Instead what you have is ignorant people saying blue lives matter to spite the fact that the systems has shown us our black lives do not matter as much.Translucent, Ordinary Joel, reD10S and 1 other person like this. -

Lol at people thinking black people are at risk if they call the police. All you have to do is show respect and you have nothing to worry about. -
