I understand, but I was trying to explain that he wasn't talking about black people from around the world, just African Americans in general, which is again incredibly naive but it's not an argument being made due to their "blackness".

Because you ignore the quotes where he explains how what he currently teaches has no correlation with his political ideals but nitpick stuff like the above.

He can call himself whatever he wants, it doesn't have anything to do with what he's actually saying, which is just another conservative POV.

How can he be racist and believe in multiculturalism at the same time? It doesn't make sense.

I read it as him saying that the cultural differences are too great and that avoiding segregation is impossible. The stereotyping is racist but not any type of aggressive hatred. It felt more like a misunderstanding of cultural integration. (the media paints a very bad picture of your country).

I mean this alone makes it sound more cultural than anything else. Specifically stating american instead of overall black people means it has something specifically to do with american culture. There was a bit of sincerity in his posts too. Misplaced maybe, but it doesn't seem like there was any malice in his posts. More an overreaction to the current state of racial affairs in America (f---... we need to start saying 'US' because even @Pato v3 , chad and I are all technically 'Americans') and a bit of branded stereotyping. He needs an actual trip to the US maybe.

Is it ignorant? Yes. But it's not an argument being made about race.

Yeah, but he has said that what he's teaching has no relation with his political stance about race in America, so it ends up being irrelevant.

How can a person be "racist" and somehow still believe in multiculturalism?

The proper terms are just not being applied here.

But why would that be case?

Most of the people that believe in this think that since America is a first world country comparable to the likes of Europe and blacks *barely* have any issue handling their businesses there, they should have no problem integrating themselves to society.

It's just a matter of confusion, not legitimate hatred.

Now, it's true that being North American and not understanding why this keeps happening is ludicrous, but we shouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly.

I should also clarify that when I say there's no correlation between what he teaches and politics I didn't meant to disregard the socialpolitical value of the books that are usually taught in this subject, just explaining how his profession doesn't connect with his personal stance towards the topics that we are discussing about.
