Feb 8, 2016 I wasn't blown away by either, but the reviews that I've read about H8 after the fact make me want to revisit it. Tarantino is kind of like Kanye these days in that his persona really taints his work and that's a problem that I take responsibility for. I love Von Trier and I feel like if he had made the same movie, my opinion would have been higher. Conversely I'm confident today that my thoughts on The Revenant were accurate in that it's an empty gesture, or at least a gesture not worth making in the first place. Spoiler @MovieSXN
Feb 8, 2016 Nah it's cool bro I have it torrented I just havnt had time to watch it yet op probably get to it during the week
Feb 8, 2016 Couldn't watch the Revenant yet but seen The Hateful Eight in the cinema few weeks ago. It wasn't wack as I read on few sites' reviews. I thought it was good. Not impressing that much but good. The scenes with cart travel were too long that kinda get bored at some point but whatever.
Feb 8, 2016 Hateful Eight for me. Revenant was f---ing amazing, it was a heavy, tense, brutal, savage a--- movie, but it felt long af, & got a lil boring & dreary at times. I found Hateful Eight to be way more exciting, entertaining, & unpredictable, it was equally as long as Revenant, but it didn't feel as long, there wasn't a single moment where i was bored.
Feb 8, 2016 Well idk. The Revenant was amazingly well shot but by the end it just felt like s--- that was happening to Leo. Ik that's a common critique but beyond the actor the main character didn't feel well defined at all, it was more of s--- happening to him rather than him responding to his environment. Hateful Eight I honestly almost fell asleep during the first half which may be the first time I've done that in theaters. But the last third was really reinvigorating even though I felt I missed a small, but significant portion of the movie. Can't deny the power of the third act. But at the end of the day Hateful Eight felt self-indulgent in a way I hoped Tarantino learned from Django but didn't, where nobody can deny The Revenant's ambition, even if it felt indulgent in the process. EDIT: You know what? f--- it, despite my logic and critiques, Hateful Eight was better, so I'm going with that.
Feb 8, 2016 Both were great... d---, very hard choice.. but I'd put The Revenant slightly above Hateful 8
Feb 9, 2016 I enjoyed both. Revenant is overrated, Hateful Eight is underrated. THey're both pretty good movies imo
Feb 10, 2016 Still haven't seen them but people I know who seen them all say they like the Revenant a LOT more
Feb 10, 2016 How come these two get put against each other? Seen it at a couple of sites and I just don't get why It's the one or the other. Sure, both are snowy westerns (kinda) but otherwise they have little in common
