Oct 5, 2017 How racism is portrayed has changed though. I’ve explained this before, various racist groups like the KKK/Neo-Nazis/Alt-Right etc. have changed the way they operate. The KKK doesn’t go around at night lynching black people anymore for instance. In many cases, they’ve traded their sheets for suits & ties to look more respectable & become more mainstream. Richard Spencer isn’t going to be appalled by a black man standing next to him. He isn’t going to lose his s--- & attack him either. That doesn’t mean he’s not a racist piece of s--- either though — they’re simply adapting to widen their appeal. Their racism comes more in form of dog whistles.

Oct 5, 2017 I’m not suggesting that’s what he’s doing. I’m just reiterating what Charlie said — it’s not a checkmate either. Racists today are not the same as racists 50+ years ago. The change is not solely because they want to widen their appeal either — in some sense you can see them adapting to societal standards. In the 1950’s, a black man shopping at same grocery store as a white man would be repulsive & something that demanded action. Now, it’s whatever. I don’t think it’d be out of the ordinary to see a modern klansmen say with a mixed women. It’s odd & hypocritcal but times change. Doesn’t mean those individuals still don’t hold hateful beliefs.
