Reminds me of when Dionne Warwick said something a bit controversial about today's artists and Beyonce stans perceived it as an attack on Beyonce(which is wasn't) and they called her washed and said that nobody knows her music.

Even if you don't agree with everything Melle Mel says or vibe to his music, you should at least respect that he paved the wave for introspective lyricism and technical skills to be more valued in hip hop and is one of the godfathers of the genre.

But I get it. Rap is a young man's game and highly competitive and elders in rap will never get the same respect that elders in Rock will get for that reason.

So scientists have managed to break every single clock in the world? Even those $1 clocks where the battery costs more than the actual clock?

Wayne wasn't/isn't that international. Heck, I think his own artists, Drake and Nicki, are much bigger internationally than he ever was.

Maybe not in terms of skill set but 50 Cent(2002-2007) probably deserves a mention too. I live in a Hispanic neighborhood and "In Da Club" is one of the few rap songs every non-English speaking Latino immigrant knows off the top.

    Which country? The UK?

I'm more so talking about non-English speaking countries like Bulgaria, Turkey, Colombia, and such. Neither Wayne or Jay were quite the global superstars Em, 50, and Pac were at their peaks.

Not that that matters too much but, even when I used to post on RapBasement back in the late 2000's, hella posters from Europe and the Middle East claimed Wayne wasn't really known like that in their countries.

In the UK even up until around Carter 4 he was still huge

I used to be a Wayne hater when I was an ignorant kid but he's easily one of the goats

    This song is incredible.

    Musically, lyrically, thematiclaly...

Songs like this are what people need to refer to if ever defending this nonsense modern-day-Em idea that 'all he does is rhyme', like even Melle Mel said something like that recently, always racist black rappers lol, clearly just hate him because he's white half the time, he's like 'yeah mechanically and all that', like he's just a rhyme robot...

Then take a song like this - it's fkn incredible storytelling wise, little details, painting the picture of the scenes for you... it's a whole lot more than just rhyming.

I'm European and I escaped it. I heard Lollipop a couple of times and that was enough to turn me off of him. Never gave him another chance. I appreciate his impact on music and I enjoy songs he's featured on bit I'm not a fan.

There is a solution to this, try to break it down and think/imagine that you are slowing it down. It will help.
