He's essentially a knock off Eminem. He's incredibly corny and his entire purpose (to promote "real hip-hop") is just completely and entirely wrong. @WPG said it best a couple months ago in that other Hopsin thread I can't think of right now.

K i'm kinda in the middle because liking Hopsin is dangerous. It often seems to imply you think you're better than other people or agree to his corny lines, which (i hope) i don't.

No i'm not a fan but lemme tell you this, the line: "Did the inventor of college go to college, mm okay then" is always brought up as if it is a bad line but i always felt he was pointing out that we're adhering to certain pretentious standards that were made up by other humans. And flaws are inherent to people, so why should we take everything we learn in college at face value.. or over-value our degrees? I'm not saying college sux and also not saying we shouldn't trust the institutions running them, just trying to remind yall that we should never have a 'blind faith' in anything.

I'm sure many of you got the gist of the line already, but i'm confused why it's constantly brought up as sort of the least meaningful cringe line ever...

Hopsin is a Eminem/Tech9-wannabe
He is fun to listen to at times when youre bored. But I mean hes never going to be anything other than a fun gimmick to check out.
Dude has some good songs but isnt a top 100 rapper
h--- people on HHS and SXN80 can rap better than him. They just arent famous because they dont have a "gimmick" or a wide range of people they connect with yet

Issue with Hopsin is he the guy who laughs at his own jokes or says some borderline intelligent/deep s--- then talks about how amazing deep and intelligent what he said was. He buys into his own hype. I knew of Hopsin before his first album came out (Gazing At The Moonlight that dropped on Ruthless and sold like 40 copies) when he was pandering his music to any and all forums that would give him a ear. He seems like a really decent dude outside of the music.. But when it comes to the music he just thinks hes so much deeper than he is. He's more than some artists when it comes to lyrics, sure. But are we STILL doing this lyrical/introspective is the only way type s---? You're playing yourself going to certain artists expecting some Nas s---.

Also... whoever tells him his singing is lit enough to continue to put on records... he needs to punch them in the throat.
