    Take a look at the list, and you'll understand Em direction in music...

    Inspirational staduim: Till I Collapse, Lose Yourself and Not Afraid.

    Poppy love: Love the Way You Lie (and probably The Monster Top 10)

    Fast rappity rap: Rap God is #4 Em's best selling.


    probably Paul looks at the sales, tell Em the songs that sell well, and Em thinks they are his dopest and keeps trying to replicate them.

    As much as I love Rap God,,, it's the reason of Shady XV flow...

    I think after Relapse and Em losing confidence,, he changed his formula from rapping literally what's on his mind.. to rap about how he would like poeple look at him and think they'd enjoy

    We can keep looking for excuses but then Eminem wasn't always like this. and if Paul does have that much influence over Marshall, then he probably has become a p---- who doubts his own art

    He probably does doubt his music ever since relapse reception. That's why it's no surprise that recovery ended up being the most "poppy" sounding album to date

    well, no s---..after he went through drug withdrawals and losing Proof.... put Relapse and critics ate him alive, and fans turned their backs...... Paul came with the Recovery pop (he even says it in interview) and it succeeded big time and brought his 2 biggest singles ever.. wut do u expect :dno:

    We can say that for the direction he has gone ahead with his music, but how come he doesn't listen to that yelling and those corny puns in the recovery era, go back, listen to TES and say to himself, "d---! What have I been doing?' Being Poppy isn't bad, seduction was poppy and i love that record, being corny while doing is the problem tbh

    The backlash needs to be big enough for Eminem to catch wind. There's still tons of praise for what he does so it overshadows the criticisms. Recovery is the most TES sounding album since his comeback tbh.

    And he kinda did listen to the yelling corny punchline thing. MMLP2 had less of both. It had a lot more speaking tone than yelling give or take a few songs

    In the 2013 MTV interview, he got asked if he listens to his older album, he said he doesn't unless he wanted to make sure he didn't use line he did in the past..

    but in Evil Twin he says:
    sometimes I listen
    And revisit them old albums
    Often as I can and skim through all them b------s
    To make sure I keep up with my competition

    Internet practically imploded upon release & is still the most viewed song on Rap Genius

    The fact that Rap God, Lose Yourself and Till I Collapse are 3 of his best selling singles should show him - and f---in' Jimmy and co - YOU DON'T NEED TO GET A s--- BEAT AND PUT SOME f---ing POP SLUT ON THE HOOK!

    Seriously, throw that s-----y format away already. It's a bore now and it's compromising material.

    Surprised that Rap God made it to top 5. Others were pretty predictable. It's not true that he listens to Paul to make music or really cares what sells etc. Don't say he scrapped Relapse 2 and released Recovery. It was just as he said, him feeling like Relapse wasn't good and wasn't what wanna give at the time etc. If he really cared so much about highest selling s--- he would have given us Recovery 2 instead of very different MMLP 2. Only thing he has to do because of anybody is releasing a single that will sell. The label wanted him to release another Recovery but he didn't feel like it. The label still forced him to have a single with Rihanna so that they can sell tones of singles. He did The Monsters but it was nowhere near Love The Way You Lie. Eminem can easily release what he wants since he sells more than most of the artists no matter what.

    Truth. At that time Love The way You Lie released, the hit rap songs were full of female pop hooks. Run This Town, Castle Walls, Airplanes, All of The Lights and hundreds I couldn't name now. But nowadays popular rap songs have simple hooks formed of few words rapped or sung by the rapper himself. Putting a female pop hook is so 2008-2011.
