Post your opinions of the top 5 players in their prime to ever don a pair of boots.

    Here's mine as follows

    1. Messi. Words aren't need for this little magician.
    2. Ronaldinho. In my honest opinion this man in his prime was godlike, his dribble and skills was second to none if he kept going he would be considered better than Messi.

    3. Ronaldo. It was hard for me to choose between second and third but I believe ronaldo just misses out.

    4. Zidane. This guy is my favorite player to ever watch play, the way he controlled the game was beautiful in my opinion the most complete player to play the game.

    5. Ronaldo(Brazilian). Was very hard for me to pick this because there was so much to pick for fifth but when it came down to prime I had to choose ronaldo possibly the greatest centre striker to play in the last 20 years.

Just to let you guys know my list is from players I've seen play, this is why Pele or mardonna isn't on my list.

Me too man, the best player I've seen. Welcome btw

A top 5 is too difficult though, I don't know which one to leave out ://
I'd like to mention Johan Cruyff though; the most complete player in the best national team of all time. These guys changed the whole game.

@JayTey @Woggy are you brothers or something? What's up with these avy's lol

Thanks for the welcone! It was hard to choose from. I've never seen him play which is why his not in my top 5! Kaka in his prime is a note able mention, his move to RM ruined him.

R9 - Before those acl injuries he was a force of nature! incredible dribbler, skillful, incredibly composed finisher and most importantly had the most brutal off the ball movement I've ever seen for a forward. From 96-98 his talent is simply unmatched, it tells you all you need to know about him that he remained world-class even after the injuries, just modified his game without his blinding pace.

Zidane - My biggest influence as a player & hands down one of the most technically exciting players to have ever stepped on a pitch. He was a late bloomer that went on to be a force in international & club level. Sublime ball control, elegant dribbling, great at link-up play & creative as h--- and he was the definition of a big-game player. My only complaint was he was a bit inconsistent in his time at my beloved Madrid.

Messi - I knew he'd rise to the pinnacle of world football when he was still considered a promising player. The greatest dribbler of all time, ruthless finisher and has an incredible eye for the killer ball all in all the essential ingredients being a 2nd striker. Thankfully he managed to avoid those injuries he turned out to be quite the player his consistency is unmatched besides the next guy...

CR7 - The greatest example of improvement in football history. Went from being a lightweight speedster to being a full-blown wrecking ball powering through defenses. Insane athleticism, intelligent off-the ball movement, powerful shooter all of this with crazy technique. A complete attacking threat that is nightmarish to defend when he's in-form shame that knee injury is depriving him of all this.

Maldini- My God what a defender this guy was for decades. A magnificent tackler, will lock you down when it came to man-marking and without hesitation had the best defensive positioning of any player he had perfect timing and read the game so well. I repeat for decades this guy was incredible.

I'm only including players I actually watched, doesn't feel right to include those pioneers and GOATs without seeing them. Shout-out to guys like Henry, Bergkamp, Kaka, Xavi, Figo, Shevchenko, Totti, etc. for also being great players & entertainers.

Can only say the ones I have actually watched proper:

    1. Messi
    2. Ronaldinho
    3. Zidane
    4. Cristiano Ronaldo
    5. Henry

(Hadn't seen pre-injury Ronaldo so can't comment on that. Bergkamp, Nesta, Totti, Buffon, Del Piero, Zanetti, Adriano 04-06, Keane, Vieira, Shevchenko, Kaka, Nedved, Xaviesta also get honorable mentions)
