Well if I were to recommend 10 albums to someone that hasn't listened to hip-hop, these would be my choices

    Illmatic by Nas
When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That s--- Gold by Atmosphere
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West
A Piece Of Strange by CunninLynguists
    Aquemini by Outkast
Blackstar, by Mos Def and Talib Kweli
    Madvillainy, by Madvillain
Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) by Wu-Tang Clan
    The Black Album, by Jay-Z
    E. 1999 Eternal by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

imo these are all classics; not all on the same lvl, but they are among my favourite, for different reasons, and all could lead the listener to check out more artists/albums

    Ready to Die

    Paul's Boutique
    Follow the Leader
The Great Adventures of Slick Rick
    ATLiens
    GKMC

It could probably be a better rounded list.

So if we're talking rap here and not all music then i would say:

    Illmatic
    Enter wu tang
    The chronic
    The blueprint
    Low end theory
    Mmlp
    I'll sleep when you're dead
    Madvillainy
    Ready to die
    MBDTF

But these are what i consider probably the greatest hip hop albums, for a collection of reasons, from popularity to innovation...
If it were a my favourite list it would be totally different

So does your hairline. Didn't post to have you rate my list blogger boy.

Can't think of a more more modern classic than GKMC.

Maybe provide an argument behind why things are or aren't the greatest of all time since this is your thread. Or at least your own list. Contribute something constructive.

i don't know if anyone over the rb/sl history would accuse me of not "contributing"; i'm saying you shouldn't get defensive, because my post isn't "LOL GKMC YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT RAP." i think you're a pretty good poster, it was just an invitation for you to talk more about those albums. it's not a criticism, it's just a discussion point. i'm not attacking you or anybody else on here, ever.

WPG should be happy to know I have a new found appreciation for MDBTF. I mean I always knew it was really good but wow that album is a classic to say the very least. 4 years late but better late than never I guess.

All of the Lights still sucks though.
