Jun 29, 2015 to be fair i dont remember i read one positive comment from you 2 weeks after the album dropped
Jun 29, 2015 the 96 on metacritic makes people overrate this album. However, its still a very solid project. After 3 months its around an 8.5 for me. Lotta goat tracks on here. Momma is probably my fav track atm.
Jun 29, 2015 i was looking for a funny get in line gif...and i found this and i have no f---ing idea wtf is going on
Jun 29, 2015 i think the black guy is robbing him and the white guy is too scared so hes like here you go take my credit card
Jun 29, 2015 because people are calling it the best album of all f---ing time i dont need to keep repeating the positives of TPAB when 99.5% wont discuss the negatives. and every time my overall thoughts about the album were questioned, Ive restated how much I like it, and that my criticisms are to counter the blind praise it receives.
Jun 29, 2015 Bloated, pseudo-deep concepts (HMADC for example), lack of replay value (due to a lack of standalone tracks) etc Still a dope album though
Jun 29, 2015 Might be my fav verse on here [Verse 2: Kendrick Lamar] f--- am I 'posed to do when I'm lookin' at walkin' licks? The constant big money talk 'bout the mansion and foreign whips The private jets and passport, presidential glass floor Gold bottles, gold models, sniffin' up the a--- for Instagram flicks, s--- a d-ck, f--- is this? One more s--- away from wavin' flashy wrist My defense, mechanism tell me to get him Quickly because he got it It's a recession, then why the f--- he a King of Diamonds? No more livin' poor, meet my four-four When I see 'em, put the per diem on the floor Now Kendrick, know they're your co-workers But it's gon' take a lot for this pistol go cold turkey Now I can watch his watch on the TV and be okay But see I'm on the clock once that watch landin' in LA Remember steal from the rich and givin' it back to the poor? Well that's me at these awards I guess my grandmama was warnin' a boy She said...
Jun 29, 2015 no reply value?...i dunno mate WT KK INST. MOMMA THESE WALLS MORTAL MAN HP YOU AINT GOTTA I U BLACKER THE BERRY s--- WHIP
Jun 29, 2015 s---, I remember how much praise I give to the record when it came out. Alright alright, after 3 months my thoughts over the album overall changed. First of all, yes, I think is Kendrick's worst album. Now, we are not going to talk about how amazing is K-Dot discography just because of this? There are a lot of gems here. However, I notice that there are little details that kinda killed the final work. Emphasis on "little" please I don't dig his flow on the first verse of Wesley's Theory For Free? is amazing but is a shame that it was not longer I don't dig that little interlude on Institutionalized with Anna Wise and Bilal I hate the chorus of These Walls K-Dot should had added that fourth verse that he performed in the BET awards on the album version of Alright The Lucy metaphor is kinda of a cliche I gotta say but I don't think is as annoying as some people say You Ain't Gotta Lie is cool but it doesn't fit on the album I think Hood Politics is the worst track here Sometimes I miss his GKMC voice while listening to the record. There are a few tracks where his flow doesn't sound effortless unlike his previous material. It's hard to explain tbh But besides that, I still think the album is great.
Jun 29, 2015 I love tracks like WT, Institutionalized, U aint gotta lie, u, i, momma, etc but I rarely revisit tracks on their own. Ill listen to the album front to back if im in the mood (havent been in the mood since like after the first month it dropped) there are like 3-5 songs i wish were cut or just better (complexion (cut), king kunta (better, got old fast), these walls (better, never liked it but its not bad), for sale (always liked it but it couldve been done better), mortal man (cut or done better), etc)
Jun 29, 2015 how does you aint gotta lie not fit? he came home after tour only to realize he doesn't have a place in his community anymore...his mom helped him figure out his lane (bringing a positive message back to compton etc)
Jun 29, 2015 Well after f---ing spitting like crazy on The Blacker The Berry with that dark grimy beat criticizing racism and black on black crime, Kendrick throws a track with a funky beat speaking about hypocrisy trying to impersonate his mother's voice. The track is good but no
Jun 29, 2015 How you rate it? High 8 or low 9 Where you rank it with his albums? Arguably his best at the least, his 2nd best. Where would you rank it among albums released this year? Still some albums I need to catch up on but probably top 3 so far this year. Top 3 favorite tracks? 1. Wesley Theory 2. U 3. Alright Honorable Mentions Institutionalized, Hood Politics Other comments The replay value for this album hasn't been any where near as bad as other people claim. Still play this album on a fairly frequent basis without problem. Also, this album can be enjoyed in so many different settings. I've gone to multiple parties & heard people put on King Kunta, These Walls, Wesley's Theory etc. & was shocked to see the reaction of people & how much they get into it.
