Jun 24, 2016 I agree with you for the most part. It was good for a one time viewing, but not something I'm gonna be buying on blu ray. Not a movie I'd wanna watch over and over like the first one, which is a classic imo.
Jun 24, 2016 Didn't expect this to be good, trailer didn't look too great. Maybe I'll watch it if I get bored enough one night.
Jun 24, 2016 I thought the first couple trailers, the ones that were darker in theme, looked GREAT. The more light hearted trailers they've been showing recently, the ones with Red White And Blue playing in the background, are a more accurate description of what the movie is like. Best character in the movie: Jeff Goldblum's Jewish dad. He picked up right where he left off with the first film. Hasn't aged a day either. Worst character in the movie: That weird scientist, aka Data from Star Trek, way too much screen time for him.
Jun 24, 2016 Completely agree with both of these points. Regarding the latter I hated him 20 years ago in the original and was happy to see him die. Pissed he was back for this one and cringed everytime he was on screen. And yeah, I won't be picking this up on Blu Ray either. I did pick up the 20th anniversay edition if ID4 a few weeks ago though. That's an all time classic movie to fall asleep to lol.
Jun 24, 2016 Saw this last night, I was entertained even though it had some cheesy parts. Wouldn't buy it but it was decent enough to see it.
Jun 27, 2016 Apparently this movie flopped at the box office. It made $41 million opening weekend after costing $165 million to make.
Jun 27, 2016 This is truly the worst movie I've seen in theaters, and I've seen some bad ones. I never thought a big screen big budget action movie could be so mind numbingly boring. The action s----d, the plot was worse and the acting almost killed me.
Jun 28, 2016 I agree. I really wanted to like this, but now that a few days have passed and it's sunk in, this movie is absolutely awful. It's worse than Jurassic Park 3, hard as that is to believe. Certain parts were so corny that I wondered how the h--- it got the green light to be filmed. The actor that played Will Smith's son was one of the worst actors I've ever seen. And (spoiler alert) Vivica Fox? She was basically the co-star of the first movie, and in this one she had maybe 5-10 minutes of screen time (for which I'm sure she made millions) before having a ridiculously bland and boring death by falling from a helicopter, to which her son reacts with an awfully acted "Moooom!" The special effects in this were terrible too and there was barely any destruction shown. The "final battle" with a giant alien running around the desert was laughable, and don't even get me started on that talking sphere thing. Wtf? Now I know why Will Smith wanted no part of this movie. I really hope the financial flop and bad reviews leads to Part 3 being scrapped. They don't deserve to make another paycheck off this franchise.
Jun 28, 2016 I hope that flops hard as well. Just like this, Ninja Turtles, etc. Sick of these film companies pumping out these horrible movies and trying to use nostalgia as a "cash grab"
Jun 28, 2016 Goldblum was the best part about this movie by far. the movie felt like ID1 just bigger, but without a heart. Hard to explain. The son of Wills character was embarrassing to watch. Easily the worst performance of the whole movie. Smith made the right decision to stay away from this movie, and doing Suicide Squad instead.
Jul 1, 2016 fell asleep a quarter way into the film, what the f--- was up with the whole sphere thing. It would have been great if they brought the actual kids from the original like Mae Whitman and the dude who played Will's kid in the original. Bill Pullman and Goldblum were the standouts from what I remember.
Jul 2, 2016 Agree they should've used the kids from the original. That sphere thing, along with most of the special effects in the movie, was so bad and corny I felt like I was watching a straight to TV movie on the Sci-Fi Channel. Lol.
