Jun 28, 2021 @Slyk really though Goblin (2011) was really the last one that had a ton of shock rap. Maybe a bit on Wolf but it's been a minute since I heard that album. Minimally you should peep Flower Boy, IGOR, and Call Me If You Get Lost because they're extremely different than his Odd Future stuff. But I'd recommend listening to all of them you haven't heard in chronological order cuz you'll see how much progression there is.
Jun 28, 2021 not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but he addresses his subject matter on Rusty which came out in 2013:
Jun 28, 2021 And coming out as bi/gay on Flower Boy was kind of an explanation in and of itself. Beyond shock rap being successful in helping them get noticed, I think using homophobic slurs and talking about r--- and s--- was him compensating/self-hatred in terms of dealing with his own sexuality. Which I'm not saying means you should like it or think it's OK (I can't really listen to that stuff anymore), but it gives it context in hindsight.
Jun 28, 2021 also wow I forgot how much I liked Tyler's verse on here. Just ran this album through and there's def more shock rap on here than I remembered but it's more saying "fa----" and less r--- stuff.
Jun 29, 2021 I saw some reactors/reviewers saying Lemonhead wasn't that good and I just want to say that they're f---ing wrong and that it's top 5 on the album
Jun 30, 2021 Is this worth a spin or nah? I’m cool with him being h--- cuz I am too, he’s just hit or miss.
Mar 30, 2023 So nobody else excited for The Estate Sale coming tomorrow? Lmao. It’s gonna be at least 8 new songs added to CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST
