The reason I thought the 3rd round was so close is because I thought Nate's clinches were pretty ineffective. He tried to take down Conor twice in that round and failed. Not to mention Conor was counter-punching and tagging him almost the entire round + those leg kicks. Nate's fury of punches in the last 45 seconds defintley is what won him the round for me.

Tons? nah not really. Also a difference between strategic "excuses" and coming out right after the fight with a "no excuses, but here's a bunch of injury excuses".

Again, if Conor lost and immediately started telling Rogan he was hurt, he would get his fucken head ripped off. Thats not an opinion its a fact.

I mean he was saying he was gassed, didn't prepare for someone like Diaz, Nate got lucky, etc. I guess not the same thing as what Nate did but idk an excuse is an excuse. I think Nate was just upset because he obviously felt he deserved the decision.

Either way this was the best result for both fighters & the UFC.

Apples and oranges imo, I don't consider Nate saying he shouldn't have wrestled so much an excuse. I'm just not a fan of the immediate "I was hurt" excuse, in the Post-Fight interview with Rogan.

Anyways supposedly Dana has nixed the immediate 3rd fight. And its either gonna be Aldo 2 or Alvarez at LW. Guess we'll see what happens, they gotta start planning out UFC 205 and I would have to assume then want Conor on there.

Conor said maybe they could do it again as a title fight for the LW belt in the future. And I doubt Diaz is gonna get there or even wants to at this point. You were right @redsoxx ... after seeing him saying how he won't take a fight other than Conor 3 again after the fight with so much conviction... I really don't think he's gonna come back.

I think the ideal scenario is to make Conor go back and defend against Aldo... then challenge for the LW title. And even if he was to lose they could still do the Nate fight. Conor has a solid chance of KOing anyone at LW tho (even Khabib). Khabib is his toughest challenge tho... I think Khabib could finish him on the ground early. Khabib is still yet to go 5 rounds as well so that'll be interesting if we ever get to see it.

I'd like to see Conor either defend twice in a row at FW or give up the belt so they can do Aldo vs Holloway. Whatever is next for him either Holloway, Ferguson (unless he loses to RDA) or Khabib is getting screwed. Max is one of my favorite fighters to watch and going into the Cub fight (or after the Cole Miller fight when Rogan told him he was fighting Cub 2 months later on the next FOX card) i considered him the FW version of Cowboy. Would fight anyone, on any notice and was super active. He was basically asked to take a back seat while we waited for the Aldo/McGregor saga to play out, waited for the Aldo/Edgar 2 fight to play out and is just hoping (half-heartedly because that's still a money fight he wants back) that McGregor drops the belt so he can get fights again. Hes now won 9 fights in a row and hasn't been able to be active because hes fought everybody but the champ/interim champ (Edgar too but that doesn't make sense any more and isn't fair to Max either).
