Regardless of whehter or not all this is accurate (and it probably is) the point is that it has nothing to do with Jeff's tweet and his categorization of "best rapper." at least not how i took it. it didnt say best rap artist or whatever lol i think he literally meant pure ability. you're allowed to like future more

i could get into how everything you said about future, except pop sensibility, applies to thug tenfold but thats not even the point.

think of it as in like comparing standalone verses

or maybe im wrong and he meant artist and he does think thug's better. in that case idrc either way lol. I do know thug put out more quality material if you count the leaks. which is crazy cause the only narrative you hear from 2015 is omg omg look @ futures run n----- what (*thug voice*) look at f---in thugs run lol which, if you go back to 2014 starts with tha tour (which a lot would argue is better than monster). and if u go before that he had his first critically acclaimed project, 1017, whereas future needed a combeack. so, in reality, thug is having the longer streak rn. especially after the WATTBA L

but we can let people rewrite history for now, and revist this years down the line when im right

yeah, I'd give the edge to lupe though... there's no doubt that he fell off as a song writer but to me he's still a f---ing beast on the mic. He murked all of his verses on T&Y and its imo the most lyrical album of 2015

To me lyricism is how a rapper expresses his themes, messages, or emotions.

I'd say that lyricism = similes, metaphors, entendres, word play, punchlines, original thoughts, being deeply introspective etc, all help make a verse more creative or original.
