Dec 24, 2015 Voted for Future. Would vote for Thugger second. Vince Staples did drop my favorite album this year tho.
Dec 24, 2015 really dont get why drake is an option, but dope nominations otherwise like i understand pop-culture wise he is absolutely undeniable. but as far as "rapper of the year?"
Dec 24, 2015 People forget sometimes that he dropped a mixtape in spring as well which was good in my opinion. While he has ventured into Pop with Hotline Bling, he's still one of the biggest rappers right now (if he's the best rapper is a different question). tl;dr He belongs into the list. All of the contenders had kind of a great year tbh.
Dec 24, 2015 Kendrick released the most important/essential album in recent memory which happens to be great as well but you can't deny what Future has done this year. He's been throwing out music with ease and a vast majority of it being great. He takes my vote. As for the other three, Thug has released a lot of great music but I don't think everything the man touches is gold like some people on here. Drake undoubtedly had a huge year but he was kind of hit or miss especially with IYRTITL. I've already stated multiple times that I thought Summertime 06' was underwhelming so yeah, there goes staples.
Dec 24, 2015 I mean I get all this, there are just better rappers it would've been dope to see get recognition We should have an underrated category or something next year Refreshing to see Vince up here though
Dec 24, 2015 Everything you said about future applies to thug though, even if you ignore the stuff you don't rate as highly as others As many quality projects as future, but excellent features and singles as well Future was a reliable powerhouse but thug was a riveting wildcard
Dec 24, 2015 An 'Underrated'-category sounds good for next time although it is contained a little bit in 'Biggest Surprise of 2015'. Not optimal for now, but a good enough solution until next year I don't remember the exact nomination numbers, but Dr. Dre, Big Sean, Earl Sweatshirt and a few more received a decent amount of nominations as well.
