I don't think he will be as popular or succesful ever again. That was his last huge year imo.

Not sure I agree. Look at all the hype he built up with Kamikaze. Now imagine that actually had SONGS on it instead of essentially mixtape cuts.

MTBMB could’ve been massive, but they cut the promo short due to COVID & riots.

No songs from Kamikaze or MTBMB stayed around. The closest was Godzilla, and it was nowhere near as big as some of the Recovery singles. It also sold way more.

Why are they "mixtape cuts" and not "songs"? That designation is pretty meaningless at this point. They're all original pieces of music. MTBMB might have more songs that are viable as singles but beyond that there's no difference between the songs that are on kamikaze and the songs that are on MTBMB. Also Kamikaze sold almost twice as much first week as MTBMB.

Godzilla was the only one promoted.

Because they’re just rappity rap cuts, they don’t last long, people move on quickly compared to songs with more substantial content.

Kamikaze sold more because of the shock value which is the point I’m making, like you said, MTBMB had a lot of single potential but they didn’t do anything with it.

I mean I don't think that's necessarily true (especially for singles). If a song doesn't have much replay value then that's because it's not that great of a song, not because it's a "mixtape cut." There are plenty of re-up g---/lil wayne/etc songs that are actual mixtape cuts (cuz they go over other people's production) that I still play 10-15 years later.

Oh don’t get me wrong I like that type of music, I’m just saying in terms of Recovery longevity for the masses, I don’t think it comes close to that impact.

They could have promoted the album, they just didn't even try. Em even went to LA for 50's thing and didn't do s---.

And no songs on MTBMB were huge single material. Only Godzilla kinda.

Farewell, Those Kinda Nights & Lock it Up had the opportunity to be massive if promoted through radio, streaming service discovery & had music videos.

They ok, but I don't see them blowing up. Only Godzilla, and he ruined it going supersonic for no reason.

He used to be great at dropping huge singles before ShadyXV/Revival. I don't know what happened.

MMLP2 was the last album the label believed in and invested a lot of money in the promo. Revival had a more modest promotional budget. And the last 2 albums had no promo.

Eminem came out of the Top League after 2013.

The promo was great, I miss when he used to drop like this, but nowadays everybody would hate on the single until the album drops with the whole Em hate train that just keeps growing.

Walk On Water is a bad example, that was a bad choice since it's way too slow and depressing for a single.

The promo for Revival was good, but the label didn’t put in as much money as it did for MMLP2 or Recovery or even Relapse. What the label did was clearly not enough. The next 2 albums were without promo even.

They picked the worst first 2 singles they could have picked. The first one should have been River and the second one something more rap like Believe.

Walk On Water is slow and depressing, and Untouchable is just bad imo.

I don't know. He has done it twice. I would create some hype this time.
