Bad, naive opinion. Not denying the "wrong sorts of people" sign up to serve, but @Koolo is (generally lol) right there needs to be a broader conversation about what being a police officer is actually like.

But my opinion isn't that being a cop isn't dangerous or difficult or complicated. It's that those who do chose to make that their profession should be held to the utmost standards.

This happened in Holland, what are you guys thoughts on this @Koolo @Narsh @Skippy etc

On August 22, 2013 shot the agent as a member of a SWAT team on someone in a car.

Not the driver but the passenger was injured and therefore had to be taken to hospital. The prosecution had requested two weeks ago to absolve the agent.

The Public Prosecutor (OM) has already appealed against the sentence. '' This is not a crook who shoots someone, but an agent who is defending himself, '' said the spokeswoman for the prosecution Friday.

The incident happened in the parking lot of coffee Brothers in Heerlen. The driver was arrested because he was the night before a ram raid allegedly committed in Simpelveld. Moreover, the defendant still had a year's imprisonment credit, according to the lawyer of the agent.

Counsel also Rino Jonkers the agent draws an appeal. "If this is the consequence of an agent who does his work conscientiously, is unacceptable, '' says Jonkers. According to him, the agent acted in self-defense and the court did not consider enough the dangerous situation on the ground.

    Pulling away

The attempt to arrest the driver tried to drive it away. The officer felt threatened by own words and shot at the driver. The court, however, there is no defense and went to the relatively slow moving car no danger for the policeman, who was standing beside the passenger door when he shot.

According to the court, the agent disproportionate and misguided act. The bullet had the surgeon may be dead, if the projectile one centimeter to the right was entered.

    Pay

The court sentenced the officer also to pay 750 euros for the wrecked clothing and 3,500 euros damages.

Justice had initially dismissed the case and the victim went to the court in Den Bosch to enforce prosecution. The court ruled in December that the agent had to be prosecuted.

    Shocked

The National Police is shocked by the sentence. "I'm terribly disappointed in the verdict of the court '', showed police chief Gerard Bouman said in a statement. He says the police contest the punishment" to the highest authority. "

Edit: the grammar is bad since it's probably translated literally from the dutch site lol

Because not shooting and killing a kid in a park while jumping out of ur own moving vehicle within seconds of arriving to the scene requires superhuman decision making skills right?

Or not choking a complaint man to death over the assumed sale of loose cigarettes?

Or *insert 5 billion more examples of why holding cops to a higher standard is becoming more and more necessary in this country*
