May 25, 2021 I immediately recognized their song Friends because Nas sampled it in If I Ruled The World but I never specifically heard of them. I mean hats off to these guys for breaking some boundaries with their album Escape but they didn't really manage to stay relevant afterwards haven't they?
May 25, 2021 Yeah, they're pretty much the epitome of stereotypical early 80s rap, there's not really any reason you should have heard of them beyond the song Friends at most considering you weren't alive when they came out + you're not American. "Friends" is one of those songs that I didn't realized that I'd heard a bunch of times before until I specifically listened to the song and recognized it. And I knew that the rap group Whodini existed but didn't put two and two together.

May 30, 2021 I wasn't big on la di da di I think the last quarter was way better than the rest of it to me And king of rock was okay I think I'm used to hearing run dmc on rock s--- cause of the Aerosmith stuff but I don't really have much to say on either song I do think the anecdote on this chapter was entertaining though
