Jan 20, 2016 Something as simply as this would be cool: Also, just now noticing this but when you're not signed in, it still shoes the inbox / alerts / profile. Can be easily edited so you only see those three when logged in:
Jan 20, 2016 @Loyalty mentioned doing something like this earlier as well. i talked him out of it because i thought it was kinda nice to showcase what our forum has to offer for guests, but that mockup does look clean, and we could the ugly login/sign-up button on top left then too... hmmm
Jan 20, 2016 I like this idea a lot, admittedly I haven't even see what the site looks when you're not logged in
Jan 20, 2016 I think you missed my reply on the last page about this (https://forum.sectioneighty.com/welcome-to-section-eighty-2-0.t50660/page-39#post-1427037), it does look nice with the line but that's also where the ad is placed (see my screenshot on the last page) and in the past we've asked our users to turn off Adblock to support the site. We do appreciate the feedback though - let us know anything other suggestions you have, like these ones.
Jan 20, 2016 The new design is insane, it feels less like a forum and more of a social media site I love the portal feature as well
Jan 20, 2016 Nah I saw it just forgot to reply. It's a shame that as aesthetically pleasing as the new design is, that you'd be willing to sacrifice that for one ad placement. I've done many forums before and I'd never let an ad interfere with the design of the site. The best advice I can give you is to find a different placement for the ad, or what I would do which is get rid of it all together. It's 2016 ad blockers are essential.
Jan 20, 2016 If it were up to me I wouldn't have ads at all. But it's not my site and I'm not paying for it so we gotta work around it.
Jan 21, 2016 there should be like a button that thread starters can press (one time only) to request their thread being featured...might streamline/help out in general with that process
Jan 21, 2016 That's a really great idea, won't be implemented until 2.5 because it requires hiring a freelancer for recoding though.
Jan 21, 2016 2.5 won't be far, prob 2-3 months We have a running list of major features to implement, this is now on that list.
Jan 21, 2016 Can easily see that feature being abused often, and yeah I saw the 1 time only part but there's still a ton of posters on here.. Plus you know people would complain and ask for more than one time. But I guess if someone had to approve it and it wasn't automatic, it may work. Might get difficult if there's a specific number of featured threads they want though, like its at 3 now I know.
Jan 21, 2016 oo dope then heres another suggestion: feature my thread for my new tape d--- im on a roll today
Jan 21, 2016 always the debbie downer its good if a lot of posters use that button. that means a lot of threads are being created. if anything, it might encourage more thread creation. which equals more content. which equals more activity. which equals koolo happy. not to mention, getting a request then saying "yes" or "no" isnt that hard lol. can also ban certain posters from using the button. or making threads in general if it gets that far. its a great idea, im a genius, miss me kon
Jan 21, 2016 How about a feature where you can block a poster from appearing in latest posts? Seems it'd be fairly easy since you can do that with threads.
