Dec 21, 2020 @Sav Stanfield the first song (Medhane) needs a beat for me at least, but the 2nd song d---. Content wise maybe doesn't fit but that sounds like a late summer night track and u know how I feel about those. Thanks man!
Dec 21, 2020 thanks man, I wouldn't think Medhane would be up your alley much, but I have a feeling you'd love some of the previous s--- I posted - check out the posts for Blxst and Hotboii, let me know what you think!
Dec 21, 2020 Dogystyleeee - Get Paid ft. N Hale I have to post this before I forget! Anyone else missing those classic Snoop x Nate collaborations? Doggystyleee, who may as well be the modern day reincarnation of Uncle Snoop, alongside N Hale, who is actually Nate Dogg's son (and sounds just like him) team up on one of the best throwback moments in recent memory. @Michael Myers @icecube you both need to hear this.
Dec 21, 2020 That reminds me, have you checked out the latest Deniro Farrar album? Reminded me you like that Wu-Tang song he did, whole thing is fire
Dec 21, 2020 He just dropped another one, with Wu Tang on it. I'm loving it so far, might even be better than Sole Food imo. check it out!
Dec 22, 2020 Holy f---ing s--- This is definitely my kinda music bro. Any s--- from these guys to check out ?
Dec 22, 2020 Both great but big preference for Blxst - possibly the best new artist I've discovered this year and bound to blow up soon. Check out his album No Love Lost (make sure its the deluxe though!)
Dec 22, 2020 Big Mali - Outro I know absolutely nothing about Big Mali and havent heard any of her music but my GOD this goes
Dec 23, 2020 @Sav Stanfield man I have to ask, what do you do in real life that gives you so much time to listen and absorb so much music? I'd love to listen to as much music as you but even if I was a bachelor to do what you do (the write ups) I'd have to be fully committed to listening to the music while doing nothing else. Couldn't just have it on in the background.
Dec 24, 2020 I'm a business analyst which I guess is a nice way of saying I stare at Excel sheets for 10 hours a day lol. So I always have music on in the background, either whatever new s----s dropped or just let the Youtube algorithm do its thing. When something catches my attention I'll save it and return to it later to listen properly. To be fair lockdown/working from home has allowed me to listen to way more music than ever before, especially now with Tier 4 in London
Dec 28, 2020 Westside Gunn - Flygod ....is now finally on streaming services. I don't think I ever really gave this a proper chance when it first dropped so it was interesting to listen to it in full, especially given how far Gunn and Griselda have come since. Its a great album. The lines between albums and mixtapes have never been more blurred, but I think if you had to try cut Gunn's catalog down to "albums", you'd include this, Supreme Blientele, Pray for Paris and WMTS. All of them (barring the Shady album, which is just ok) are excellent, each have their own take on that grimy/high-art sound and feel Griselda's had so much success with. Flygod may not be the best Griselda record but surely marks the turning point when the school that Roc Marciano went mainstream and Griselda began on their path to world comination. Speaking of Roc, the guest list on Flygod is insane; him along with Benny, Conway, Bronson, Skyzoo, Droog, Danny Brown and Mach-Hommy all appear and all k--- it. I'm incredibly happy to see that Mach and Gunn have finally squashed their beef and hope it leads to more collaborations between Griselda and the newly formed NEW RELIGION (Droog, Mach & Fahim). Definitley worth revisiting this if you havent already
Dec 29, 2020 Tobe Nwige - Cincoriginals Houston’s always had a rich history but there was a stage in the mid 00’s - in just the space of 12 months or so - when the scene just blew up beyond anyone’s expectations: Mike Jones, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, not to mention solos albums from p---- and Bun had everyone gripping woodgrain, fiending for that slab talk. The scene never quite peaked quite like it did back then, but the influence was tremendous (hello A$AP). Nigerian-American Tobe Nwigwe has been drawing attention recently with his inventive, choreographed music videos which he films with his family - his wife and kids - in their Houston home. I wouldn’t have expected Tobe to put together an album that does such a good job of transporting me back to the days when Chamillionaire was my ringtone but with his measured drawl, thick, plodding instrumentals (I think he produces his own s--- as well? could be wrong about that) and features from H-Town legends like Lil Keke, Killa Kyleon, Trae and Bun himself (not to mention a handful of others who all outdo themselves), he’s managed to do just that. @Sign Language i’d love to know what you think of this one. Spoiler: Spoiler
Dec 29, 2020 Tobe Nwige is the s---! Been meaning to check this out. I’ll be sure to report back Sav!
