Nov 24, 2017 The production, verses, themes, and narratives were on some MMLP level. Execution was just off
Nov 24, 2017 Recovery, MMLP2 everyone knows is s---. Underrated relapse + refill is best album since come back. Encore more enjoyable than mmlp2 and recovery for me.
Nov 24, 2017 Most of you are all wrong. His first 3 albums are virtually flawless and every single song has a household line. None of them can possibly be overrated in any way shape or form. You can always say that in hindsight, but for their time they were flawless and I look at them as flawless. Eminem's most overrated album is MMLP 2. Then after that probably Recovery. His most underrated album is Encore. Encore probably had more classics than MMLP2 and Recovery put together. It did have some fillers, but then again so did the Marshall Mathers LP 2. Encore has Mosh, Toy Soldiers, Yellow Brick Road, Spend Some Time, Never Enough, and Mockingbird. And the rest are decent as well, except for Big Weenie and a--- Like That. If only he had put We As Americans, Ricky Tic Toc and Love You More on the album, then it would have been nearly a classic. Imagine if Encore was this, and had No Apologies... 1. Curtains Up 2. Evil Deeds 3. Never Enough 4. Yellow Brick Road 5. Toy Soldiers 6. We As Americans 7. No Apologies 8. Paul (skit) 9. My First Single 10. Rain Man 11. Ricky Tic Toc 12. Em calls Paul (skit) 13. Just Lose It 14. One Shot Two Shot 15. Spend Some Time. 16. Love You More 17. Mocking Bird 18. Crazy In Love 19. Final Thought 20. Encore/Curtains Bonus CD a--- Like That Puke Big Weenie
Nov 24, 2017 This. Relapse>>>>>recovery>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>mmlp2 Subject matter isnt bad on mmlp2 but honestly the worst beat selection by far and worst flows. I dont listen to rap for technicality. I want good flows, beats and lyrics. Relapse had good flows and beats with questionable lyrics but idc i like mumblerap lol. Recovery was good flows with an inconsistent beat selection but not bad at all with some good lyrics and some terrible ones. Mmlp has not one good beat imo on the main cd and minimal good flows.
Nov 25, 2017 His first 3 albums are all flawless for what they are guys. Encore was the biggest disappointment after initial release but ironically has aged by far the best out of his last 4 albums.
Nov 25, 2017 SSLP. I think it just gets caught up in the ‘classic’ category because of his rise to fame after it and he followed up with 2 actual incredible albums after it. I still think it’s good though.
Nov 25, 2017 if the trend is anything to go by, its not looking good for revival, just the nail in the coffin for marshal legacy/
Nov 25, 2017 I don't think any are overrated, by the public or critics. SSLP + MMLP are seen as classics. TES by many too but also just 'a great album' by many as well. Encore is seen as a mixed bag. Relapse is totally split. Recovery is seen as good but flawed. By Eminem fans, even stans, I'd say most see the albums the same way too, but with way more considering TES easily a classic as well and some considering Relapse or Recovery up there with his best work. If anything maybe MMLP2. That got 72 on Metacritic and many critics, even usually harsh Em critics... said things to the effect that it was as intense as the original or whatever. Which I think is just absurd. It's such a fkn shoddy album. His skills on it are fantastic, but if anything that'd be the only album which should probably be a little more dogged for its poor structure and lack of sound. But there's no Em album which is majorly overrated. His first three are actually under mentioned when it comes to all time great hip-hop albums. MMLP is the only surefire mention but SSLP and TES are outstanding as well and many other rappers' lesser work gets mentioned tons more. MMLP is under rated for what it is as well. It should be even more praised than it is.
Nov 25, 2017 No Eminem album is overrated. They are what they are for the most part. How can his last 4 be overrated when they aren’t rated particularly well? Maybe SOME people overrate them. I guess you can say Love The Way You Lie is overrated as a song, but the numbers speak for themselves.
