Jun 11, 2018 I can't imagine not having a streaming service at this point. It's so convenient. It makes it easier to find new music and get into different music too. I've also got it connected to a sound system and can turn it on at any time from my phone. It's music heaven. Idk how the people who don't use streaming do it. I still download to keep the collection going but I never use iTunes anymore.
Jun 11, 2018 In 2007 I started using Zune Music Pass which was unlimited downloads for $10 a month that would eventually fall off your mp3 player... not exactly streaming... but close... then around 2009ish I started using grooveshark which was conventional streaming... it was free and extralegal... then in 2011 I got a invite to Spotify US version Beta from a link on Studioleaks and have paid them every month since then and in 2015 I got my first Amazon Echo which came with a free year of Amazon Prime which I also started paying monthly which comes with Amazon music which I also use.
Jun 11, 2018 I loved Grooveshark... You could find pretty much everything, whereas streaming services nowadays only have officially released stuff
Jun 11, 2018 I hate the whole idea of the streaming service. I still buy the albums I really, really like. 1. You don't own anything, if you ever decide to stop paying, you have no music. 2. If your phone doesn't have service, you also have no music. I know you can download it, but then that takes up more data to actually download the album to your phone When I do use any streaming service, it's a free one. My go-to's are Pandora and Google Play. I also don't know why people don't talk about Google Play more. I keep all my music on a hard drive at home and I can access it anywhere. I personally just like to have a memory card in my phone full of all of my music, takes no data to use and I can access it anytime without having to rely on any service to give it to me.
Jun 11, 2018 Why? I dont wanna go online for music I wanna listen to it whenever I want. Also I put music on my USB in the car. Cant do that with apples
Jun 11, 2018 I've been using Google Play Music for years. I have it set so anything added to my iTunes library automatically syncs to GPM. I like it but I don't think it's up there with other streaming services. I wouldn't pay for it
Jun 11, 2018 I'm still going to download music, I just think streaming is more convenient when brand new albums come out and looking for random older songs. I use SoulSeek but you don't always get the best quality. Pandora is okay and you can see my thoughts on Google Play on my previous post.
Jun 11, 2018 I just download albums from Apple store onto my phone so I can play the music in the car, gym or wherever without using my data up. A few of my friends use Spotify, when i switch to a unlimited data plan sometime I’ll probably get it. Also got a backup iPod for all the old songs and material I don’t want to waste on my phones storage. Tidal seems to be a flop. I thought they were having business, money problems not too long ago? Some people here actually use tidal? I remember trying to catch a live stream for a new album party on tidal and it kept delaying not working and it pretty much just quit working then I never gave it another chance.
Jun 11, 2018 I'm on Google play. Love it but haven't really tried anything else past sum spotify and apple free trials. I like uploading my mixtapes and other unreleased s--- which isnt usually on streaming services but I'm sure u can do that with other services as well. Also YouTube red comes along with it which is pretty convenient. Tho tbf I was a little disappointed when I found out YouTube red isn't the same as RedTube
Jun 11, 2018 I've tried free trials for all three and have never paid for one except for when I took advantage of a "three months of Spotify premium for 99 cents" promotion and one time when I made a TIDAL burner account for my mom so she could put on a Christmas music playlist (lol) when family was over for the holidays and forgot to cancel the next month. @Worm @Slyk Right now I'm using TIDAL cuz @Loyalty hooked me up with a free six month trial from one of his on the run tour tickets. I'd say Spotify and TIDAL are about equal in interface. TIDAL has the best exclusives but that doesn't seem like it's really a thing anymore other than, like, Lemonade, Reasonable Doubt and a few others that I have downloaded anyway so that's never a real issue for me. I like that TIDAL is more hip-hop focused with playlists and whatnot cuz it's my fav genre, but I never really listen to Rap Cavier on Spotify or anything like that. I mostly listen to albums or make a playlist myself cuz I'm a more "active" music consumer if that makes sense. I don't let the robot make choices for me!!! I just hate AM's interface. Maybe it's gotten better since I had a trial but every time I use someone else's I'm like "what the f--- is this s---." I do like that you can integrate it with your music library because it is a minor inconvenience to switch between TIDAL/Spotify and music library apps on your phone. But yeah I'll probably either stick with TIDAL or get Spotify after this since I think it's a bit cheaper. It took me awhile to be sold on streaming cuz at the beginning there was so much good rap missing from them that was free anyway but it's just so convenient now it's hard to go back to downloading each and everything you wanna hear manually. I was stubborn with it for so long but now I just DL albums I really really like in case they get removed or changed, cuz that is the one thing I still hate about streaming in general. Things can just get pulled and if you were not an internet-savvy person you'd either have to buy the album or be SOL.
