I used to strictly use my AKG Q701s but I've realized that if I get used to a pair of headphones or speakers, I can engineer/master with them. SO now I usuaully just use my Sennheiser Momentum in-ears and a cheap $99 Walmart set of speakers and a receiver. I rarely ever cross reference with my other two pairs of headphones. Apartment living so I try to stay away from the speakers.

i feel your pain on the apartment thing, I have an okay set of cheap speakers, but I literally never get to turn the bass up on them and have to keep the volume relatively low all the time. sucks

personally, i generally just use my like $9 skullcandy earbuds for everything and then check on other stuff after I've produced something. most people would probably be appalled to know that's what I work with, but it's never been an issue with me so far and I honestly think they sound amazing for being as cheap as they are (which is useful considering how often I have to replace them)

Doesn't take much to get the job done. I'm sure we'll all come down with gear acquisition syndrome down the road though. I envision many many synths and a nice Rupert Neve mixer with with plenty of racks of outboard FX.

I use my old fashioned Polk Audio Monitor Series 5 from 1984. Don't know how long they'll last but they sound amazing for the price I got them at and they haven't failed me yet. :emoji_wink:
