Dec 24, 2020 Concept(s) Content, content & content. No more dumb similes or “purposely” bad wordplay. Now he’s pretty much perfected the album he’s been trying to make since Kamikaze, he needs to move on from this battle rap/dictionary rap hybrid & start making more connected projects. We used to get an artistic evolution from Em with each album, this one has been slower which is to be expected at this career point & with how many projects he’s been pumping out over the last couple of years. I think the only way to successfully do this is lock in with 1 or a group of in house producers & make the album front to back together.
Dec 25, 2020 The version of Xscape with the original cuts is fire. Agreed though most of the re-released version is overproduced, what they did to Chicago is AWFUL.
Dec 25, 2020 The original version of Xscape leaked in 2003 and it was amazing. Then they f----- it up for the album. And yeah, the original versions for Chicago, Loving You and A Place With No Name were very nice. Well, I'm biased anyways... Michael will always be the #1 for me.
Dec 25, 2020 At this point I just want him to keep doing what he's doing, I'd hate for him to retire at his second peak. It's scary how good this album is, I just pray he doesn't start feeling like this could be a perfect end to his career. All the hints had me scared af lol. No no no, not yet. He has at least 3 more good albums in him. He could do a concept album, or a bad meets evil project, or a collab album with a different artist, step out of his comfort zone a bit, let someone else take the wheel and bring their own sound to the project. A producer-rapper collabs have been popular lately, why not do something like that. Or even a new group project type of thing, gather some friends and give us something a bit different from what we're used to. The possibilities are endless tbh. If he's too afraid to get another stain on his career then an EP could be the way to go. But honestly I'm very very happy with what we got.
Dec 25, 2020 I'll never understand why they decided to put out a worse version of it. It just doesn't knock the same way. They did the same thing with the og version of Blue Gangster. The released version sounds really boring, it's like they tried to make the remixes sound way better by putting out bad versions of the original songs.
Dec 25, 2020 Needs to do a 10 track album with the same voice and flow of Discombobulated! Sample some classic hooks like he did on his first 3 albums and diss the f--- out of all his pathetic media haters who gave him s--- for 20 years.
Dec 25, 2020 From being a notorious hiatus-taker from each album to dropping 36 tracks within a year and a fire album a year before that and also been consistent with features through out everything.. tbh now he should just sit back and watch his bills pile up THO his team should put out a documentary with bts footage of this era (chlora remix - side b) A lot of people in his camp says that paul and others are recording a lot so there is definitely things there
Dec 25, 2020 I will say they did a great job with the Xscape song, and I’m irrationally partial towards JT so I’m happy they added him. I’d like to think if Michael were still alive they’d have worked together after the This Is It tour or something. not to make this a Michael Jackson thread but i hope one day AI can get MJ to sing all of The Weeknd’s hits and sound 100% accurate
Dec 25, 2020 Yeah, a real MJ feat JT feature would have been fire. Also MJ feat. Bruno Mars. MJ feat. The Weekend. They are sort of his 'sons', in a good way. I hope one day Will I Am will release all the songs he produced for MJ. I heard there are some crazy hits there. But he's actually been the only one to really respect Michael's wishes since Day 1, so unless someone hacks his hard drive or something, we'll never hear those songs.
Dec 25, 2020 That SUCKS that we’ll never hear it. Will-I-Am was on a tremendous roll from 05-08 as a producer. I can only imagine what his work with Michael sounded like. Bruno, Chris Brown, Weeknd, JT, Usher all feel like MJ sons. But none more, in my mind, than Abel. I’d venture to say if Mike were still alive “Can’t Feel My Face” would be his song. It’s as if it were written with him in mind. If anybody were capable of putting hits out like that into their 50s it would’ve been him.
Dec 25, 2020 I just want an album full of old school hip hop features. I want more features next time. Jay, Nas, 50, J. Cole, Wayne, Kendrick, Xzibit, any old school rappers...
Dec 25, 2020 He will absolutely promote his retirement album IMO. Would be stupid not to. I dont mind the surprise albums until then though. But his last one should absolutely be promoted.
Dec 26, 2020 He deserves it not gonna lie. One of the most loyal Shady artists, but it's too late for him.
Dec 26, 2020 A suprise slaughterhouse album would be dope, with Em as an equal contributor would be dope..
