that's a good point mate and i never thought of it like that. Obviously knew the situation in EU was different but didn't think it was that big of a stretch - maybe my lack of understanding on the matter is also what some US people are lacking and they just see what's happening in the EU/what has happened and are basing their political stance of that?

I dunno i still don't pick Trump as a racist. Yeah that case shows he was doing some racist/discriminatory things, but (i could be wrong here) to my understanding of american history, people still weren't fully accepting of black people in the 70's and someone from an earlier generation (Trump's dad) could have easily pushed those older racist views and ideals onto those around them.

I mean, say for example Trump gets a loan from his dad to make all these buildings and his dad is saying things like "oh don't let the minorities mix, it's bad!" or whatever. He's funding you, so you kinda gotta listen to him because its your dad and you don't want to piss him off. it's not an excuse and doesn't justify it, but I don't really see him as a racist. ignorant/politically incorrect for sure, but i don't think he actually holds prejudice against other races in this day and age.
