what is it with 90s hip-hop/rap that's so polarizing

No other genre is so for / against music made 20 years prior what gives? Is it just bad? Are some simply not smart enough? Capable enough?

Personally the only 90s rap albums I own are from Outkast / DJ Screw

And screw albums are practically compilations

Yet other genres I have catalogs into the 60s-70s-80s why is this?

Chad is more of a late 90s to early 2000s kinda guy tbh. Some of the classics from the early 90s are straight dust to Chad man. Not all of course, but some.

other genres been through the same thing, with the same hipsters holding onto their dear authenticity

you can compare it to classic rock vs metal, except now both genres are so old and developed theyre not rly alike at all anymore

trap will definitely further evolve in a different direction than classic hip hop

I don't think it's the music itself, it's more the fans. Reel hip hop heads are obnoxious c---- so people make dust jokes to bait them

funny thing is the trap mentality is a direct reaction to the exaggerated and misplaced quality focus of 90's era rap

90s had more quality because the internet was nothing but geocities and IRC chat

Facts. 90's was full of s--- novelty acts, everyone just forgot about it because why would you bother remembering bad music. Everything looks better in retrospect

If your s--- wasn't good it wouldn't get played it's that simple that's why one hit wonders get full careers now because it's easier for companies to manipulate trends.

Got way more prevelant in the 2000s.

Example: thugs need love songs charting all the time in 2002
