Sep 7, 2020 There was a very split reaction when it first dropped. I've always enjoyed it despite the accents and content, it still feels like the last 'real' Eminem album. I found it weird that Refill got panned so heavily when it dropped though, even though it sounded to me like he was starting to get it right again on songs like h--- Breaks Loose and Drop the Bomb on Em, even Music Box to an extent. Then he just completely lost everything on Recovery lol.
Sep 7, 2020 id like receipts pls ayy m8 yes. i remember when that dropped it was like quenching a long thirst . hahahha ay ily m8
Sep 7, 2020 ay solid em deep cuts. not especially personal and sorta boomer jams s/o @skip. but like @Michael Myers said My Darling >>>
Sep 7, 2020 I know I have hard copies of some of the issues I wrote for in a box in Seattle, I'll dig them out next time I'm there and will post if they're not too terribly embarrassing lol
Sep 7, 2020 I was only 7 when it came out, but copped the deluxe edition at Best Buy with my mom. Loved the album and the accents. Used to listen to it with my parents in the car on road trips.
Sep 7, 2020 I remember the era quite well. There was pre release singles that dropped each week. We Made You premiered with the video & was trash.3am had big anticipation that it was a Proof tribute. Wasnt until Beautiful came out that a song was accepted by majority as good. Eminem had a Relapse site too Popsomhills i think it was called. It was all quite strange. The album itself received mixed reception. Recovery for comparison when lealed was prasied across the board. It was overall a great time though. When I was younger I really anticipated Eminem albums. Wasnt until MMLP2 was trash until my anticipation for Eminem projects was gone.
Sep 7, 2020 To be fair he released that Shady compilation in 14 and did the boxing movie soundtrack in 2015. A ton of features, too. Curtain Call dropped in 05, the Re Up(though we knew most of his stuff was old) in 06 and then virtually nothing in 07-08. Peephole, Touchdown, a Trick Trick song and that freestyle in late 2008 that marked his return from his hiatus.
Sep 7, 2020 d---, to think it's the same timespan from MMLP to Recovery as from Recovery to MTBMB. I still consider Recovery as "recent".
Sep 7, 2020 The Re Up is better than most of Eminem's solo projects since 2009. You Dont Know was a great single
Sep 7, 2020 I started listening heavy to rap in 2007 , ofc i heard all em albums multiple times by 2009 , when it released i was so fkin hyped for it , i liked the album so much , i think i played it like 20times in the first weeks and songs without the whole album and than recovery was released and i remember i hated it so much , it was everything that eminem wasnt till then
Sep 7, 2020 I remember when I was sitting in my room after 2 or almost 3 years after the Re-Up Em called MTV And Announced his new album Relapse. Heard "I'm having a Relapse" thought it was dope. Heard leaked Beautiful I was like omg this is masterpiece. Was kind of weirded out by 3AM never knew he would ever be that dark but I liked it after a few listens. When I heard the first single We Made You when the video dropped I didn't like it because it was so different (At first!!) Also didn't believe it was the REAL EMINEM as a Stan don't ask me why. But Relapse is my top 3 Em albums of all time. If not top 5 my 3rd favorite. Stay Wide Awake is some of his greatest work. The flows on this album are crazy. This album is so great because it's produced by Dre. The production is too notch. The subject matter makes the album dope.
Sep 7, 2020 You are absolutely right and it is f---ing wild. When Recovery dropped MMLP felt like a lifetime ago. Right now Recovery feels like a couple of years ago. It blows my mind how the older we get the faster our perception of time speeds up.
Sep 7, 2020 I was happy to hear tracks such as Deja Vu and Beautiful but ultimately was disappointed by the album. The accent pretty much ruined it for me. Did enjoy Refill. Several of the tracks should have made it on the album.
Sep 7, 2020 Jesus. Never thought of it like that. That's f---ing insane. I still view Recovery as pretty recent. It's the last Eminem album that I actually care for. Lost interest for pretty much everything that came afterwards.
Sep 8, 2020 Oh my bad I meant to say I was 6. That would make more sense since I think I was about 8 when I signed up. My apologies bro
Sep 8, 2020 Loved it. Sounded completely unique and was addictive to listen to. Loved it then, love it now.
