What im about to say is a scientific fact, not an opinion

The Em icy/m i c scheme on ringer is something only Em can pull off. This is a fact. I listen to hip hop for wordplay and metaphor so you can bump ur head wondering if kiki is riding but Em will always be the greatest rapper of all time

I dont know if dustiness detracts from Goat status? I mean Kool G Rap and Rakim are dusty af and have definitely slid down the list over the years to make way for better newer artists but I think they are more deserving on an (objective) top 10 list than say, Xzibit? or Fabolous?

Pac and Big made universally acclaimed, timeless, genre-defining music that was so influential you can still hear it today. Same goes for Outkast, Ghost, Jay, Nas, Wayne. Eminem too.

Nothing against Chamillionaire and Xzibit, especially if we're talking personal preference (I'm a big fan fan of both) but I'm not sure either of them of them belong in the same conversation tbh

It’s all subjective based on what you prefer but there’s a shortlist of guys that it’s really hard to argue over and then there’s Jay who is the closest thing to objectively being the greatest ever and we conclude it in the thread every time someone posts this so

Biggie is pound for pound the best when it comes to every attribute that goes into making a good rapper/artist and I will argue this forever with anyone

Edit: and I ain’t saying pound for pound cause he fat either

For me I always have 2 lists... my “favorite” rappers and the “best” rappers. They overlap but I have rappers that I listen to a lot but know objectively they aren’t that influential or skilled (ASAP Ferg). Another example on the other end is someone like Jay-Z. I don’t listen to him much and never cared for his style that much, however he is still one of the greatest rappers of all time. I am still very familiar with his discography and music but I rarely listen to him and would defend him to death to belong on a Top 10 list.

Unless you're living under a rock you've probably seen this (horrendous) top 50 rappers oat list thats been causing untold misery all over twitter a week or 2 ago (and the wave of equally bad lists that followed)

I tried to make my own list but its d--- near impossible to rank 50 rappers in a single list. Too many variables, too much s--- I havent heard, too much bias. BUT i think I did settle on a top 10.

    1. Jay-Z
    2. Andre 3000
    3. The Notorious B.I.G.
    4. Lil Wayne
    5. Nas
    6. MF DOOM
    7. Gucci Mane
    8. Ghostface Killah
    9. 2Pac
    10. Kanye West

... with an honorable mention of un-ordered 11-20ish:

    Ice Cube
    Black Thought
    Scarface
    E-40
    Kendrick Lamar
    Chief Keef
    Cam'ron
    Future
    Young Thug
    Big Boi

thoughts? whats your list looking like in the year of our lord 2019? anyone got a full on top 50?
