No Ems brothers friend leaked 6 or 7 songs from Encore. That's why he didn't care anymore. We as Americans and Bully were to start out the album. People don't know what they're talking about. Em even said it himself. Then came Relapse as he was going through rehab. Careful what you wish for was him wanting to quit. He says it on so many songs that he can't make fans happy and Take from me talks about the leaks. I don't blame him for not wanting to make music for awhile.

The original leaked songs came out a year before Encore so fans need to stop acting like he had to rush songs out to meet a deadline. He had a full year to go and found time to record and release D12 World.

He wrote 17 songs with Dr Dre and recorded 11 of them. So there's at least 4 Dre songs from those sessions we haven't heard. Eminem said on a Westwood interview when the album came out he had a few more songs he wanted to put on it but you can only get 80 minutes on a CD so he couldn't do it. That's why the bonus disc is there.

He himself needs to stop blaming the leaks. He had a full year to make new songs. The reason Encore Is the way it is is because he wants it that way. All these songs people complain about are there because he wants them there. Not because leaks happened in 2003.

And as far as any last minute changes, there is only one and that is the removal of Christopher Reeves which was on the tracklist up until his death which was weeks before the album came out so it was a literal last minute change before they started pressing the album.

And if this week has shown anything to you all, he has tons of material. Enough with all this talk of he had to replace songs and he had to do this and that. I promise you he has plenty of songs from 2003 and all the way through 2004 that were good enough to be on the album. It is that way because he wanted it that way and the truth is...he had nothing to prove so why not have fun? It's the same thing in 2024. Who is gonna outrap him? Outsell him? Whose better? He's done it. He's on mount Rushmore. He's the best. He's earned the right to gloat and make silly songs.

Same thing with Fack. Do you think.....after this week knowing how active he was in 2005 that Fack was put on Curtain Call because he had no material? Fack was on there the same reason the other songs made Encore. He was gloating, he was showing off. The biggest artist in the world at the time putting out his first Greatest Hits album and he opens it with Fack. That's a message to every rapper in the industry. That's how good he was.

Encore would have been remembered by many fans as a much better album if he kept We as Americans and Love You More on the album. Even if it leaked, only HUGE die hard fans knew those songs. They weren't mainstream songs so a lot of casual fans who just knew new Eminem album when music videos and an official album dropped....would have known those two songs. I knew plenty who didn't until Encore came out and loved them (many women).
Encore would have been considered much better if he got rid of My 1st Single, Big Weenie, Crazy in Love, and One Shot 2 Shot and replaced them with "6 in the Morning/Come on In, We as Americans, and Love You More leaks." Also, with these new leaks....Smack You is awesome but I just don't see it making an album....just like I don't see Bully, Can-i-b----, or Monkey See Monkey Do which leaked making the Encore album either because they were diss songs basically.
Em usually puts verses that diss people on albums, but never a FULL ENTIRE diss song on albums typically. And would we have never gotten Like Toy Soldiers if he put Bully on the album? The two on the same album kind of contradict each other. He would have been best off just keeping We as Americans and Love You More, and putting that 6 in the Morning D12 song on there....and cutting the couple of worst songs.
He also should have kept Brand New Dance there, despite Christopher Reeves' passing. The album realistically should have been...

    1. Curtains Up (Intro Skit)
    2. Evil Deeds
    3. Never Enough (Ft. Nate Dogg and 50 Cent)
    4. Yellow Brick Road
    5. Like Toy Soldiers
    6. Mosh
    7. Puke
    8. Brand New Dance
    9. Paul (Skit)
    10. Rain Man
    11. 6 In The Morning (Feat. D-12)
    12. Em Calls Paul (Skit)
    13. Just Lose It
    14. a--- Like That
    15. Spend Some Time (Feat. Obie Trice, 50 Cent, Stat Quo)
    16. Mockingbird
    17. Love You More
    18. We As Americans
    19. Final Thought (Skit)
    20. Encore (Curtains Close/Outro Skit) (Feat. Dr. Dre and 50 Cent)

It certainly wouldn't have been on par with his first 3 albums. However, it would have been remembered in history as significantly better...and would be a much more fun, well rounded, enjoyable listen.

He could have done that and he didn't. He didn't want them on the album. He had no issues putting Come on In on D12 World. He put Crack A Bottle on Relapse. I Need A Doctor got released. Those all got official releases despite being leaked.

Those 2 songs you mentioned also got official releases...on the bonus disc. If it was all about the leaks they wouldn't have made the bonus disc at all.

If he released Encore in 2003 during the height of the beef and before his drug problem got worse it would obviously have been a way different album.

by the time the real album dropped it was obvious the album was not up to par instantly. People even were saying it was a fake album that leaked and the real album was totally different.

when Just Lose It came out, it was so much worse than his previous singles

than Mosh came out before the album and that also just didn’t sound nearly as good as his music from previous albums.

BUT coming off The Eminem Show, and 8 Mile, and having all the beefs going on, there was no way anyone would think Em would just drop a dud of an album, and d--- what a let down Encore was.

in Hindsight it’s an enjoyable album but just not even close to the caliber of his previous work.

best post i've seen in a bit...

agreed. Ironically those decisions are what started his fall from greatness. Don't forget My Ballz from The Longest Yard. Another snippet into the kind of music he was making in 04 mixed with Akon and Fat Joe club cringe.

You could tell on D12World released in April maybe... that it was ending. While not as bad as the lows on Encore, he was very monotone and the magic was gone. Git Up/Get My Gun were the only flashes.

yeah on D12world I remember when “Git Up” leaked and the flow was absolutely insane but he wasn’t saying much. The only standout verses were “How Come” and “Get My Gun”

Honestly, “How Come” should have been on “Encore”
And “1 shot, 2 shot”’ should have been on D12world

Good call. How Come was by far the best song in retrospect. Or most old Em sounding song.

Terrible verse but I always enjoyed it lol same with “Fack” and “insane”, and even “Antichrist 2005”

it’s such ridiculous content, but highly entertaining and unique to where you cannot find anyone else who would or could make a song/verse with that concept with a catchy flow and delivery. There’s still a lot of skill involved.

Ehhhh most talent shown here was the mixing and making that hook catchy and covering up the 0 effort he gave writing that verse.

Monkey See Monkey Do is one of his best songs from that era, should totally have been on Encore
