Oct 12, 2020 Dude he had a concert in 2018 when he had the d--- tour and the attendance was 13.000 on Mercedebenz Arena that has a capacity of 17,000 and Berlin has a population of 3.7 mil. Of course 0.3% of the population are rap fans and are gonna go to a Kendrick Lamar concert but that doesn't mean he is huge. I guarantee you if he went on the The Olympiastadion he wouldn't pull 60k like Jay-z did. When I'm saying regular people, I mean Can Kendrick walk down the streets of Berlin or any city in Europe without security to draw attention and not one person is gonna know who he is? 100% Can Kanye,Drake, Jay-z, Eminem, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne do that ? Never in a million years.
Oct 12, 2020 Jay-Z pull what? You mean Bey pull 60K people to Berlim. The biggest attendance Jay-Z has either he is with is wife or Kanye West. Give me solo numbers. Never in a million years?
Oct 12, 2020 I remember Kanye in his prime during his tour once booked tables at a well known restaurant here in Antwerp Belgium and arrived hours late and was sent walking. Apparently the owner didn't realize who he was. Poor Kanye was forced to eat at the pizzeria across the restaurant. I don't think lil' wayne nor 50cent would be recognized a lot just walking the streets of Belgium tbh, unless it hits the news. Same is probably the case for Kendrick.
Oct 12, 2020 Yeah my bad didn't saw it was Jay-z and Beyonce, but I showed you Kendrick couldn't sell out in a 17k arena let alone a stadium. And you also took the only thing that was wrong from my post but you not agreeing with me that 0.3% of the population of a big city going to a concert doesn't make him huge, make me think I'm not wrong. If he was "huge" like you said that 17.000 arena was packed but I guess only 13.000 are rap fans in Berlin that like Kendrick.
Oct 12, 2020 And yeah maybe I was reaching adding 50 cent and Lil wayne in the mix but for sure they have more chances to be recognize than Kendrick
Oct 12, 2020 The international perspective is crazy but it really does change the game. In South Africa a lot of popular s--- was generally mirrored by whatever was happening in the US, same here in the UK. Europe/Asia's a different story though. I guess the best metric is worldwide sales? I havent looked up the numbers but I think Em's probably taking the crown on that one, maybe Drake too. Not sure if anyone else is in their league tbh.
Oct 12, 2020 50 was pretty big in germany. So i think he would be recognized em could be the only one who is on some Michael Jackson s---
Oct 12, 2020 Yes is huge. You need to see the bigger picture. The genera Rap/Hip-Hop is fairly new comparing to rock, pop, etc. People outside US probably only started to listen to it in the late 90s and since that it took 20 years to be mainstream. The numbers of listeners grows daily but the problem is that still lags beyond Pop where the Ed Sheeran, Beyonce e Biebs reach a entire base that can range from 8 to 60 years old. That's why they massive Tours and no one from Rap can eve dream doing numbers like them. They fill stadiums after stadiums. So 13.000 is huge for rapper fairly new to the game and to genera thats growing fast but still trails beyond others.
Oct 12, 2020 This is the first time I've heard this song (I know some of his stuff tho) and I'm shook, this is hardest s--- I've heard in a while.
Oct 12, 2020 I don't listen to his music, but literally every feat. he's on is fire and this s--- is dope af. Maybe one day I'll check all his music out.
Oct 12, 2020 Agree with the people saying Meg/Cardi, Meg in particular will only get bigger and bigger. Uzi is already as big as he can possibly be imo, he’s comfortably in that Kendrick kinda lane where he can take years off and drop whenever he wants and still take over the world. Don’t see him changing it up very much.
Oct 12, 2020 Can't get into it. All of these guys sound the same to me tbh. Future, Migos, Lil Pump etc.. And i'd put this guy in the same category. The production all sounds the same too. Way too heavy on the hi hats. It's like listening to the same song everytime. Nothing stands out. You got a generic beat with some guy mumbling over it. I absolutely this trend. No offense to the people who like him. I respect your opinion.
Oct 12, 2020 I mean it wasn't all that long ago that you made a thread about how you haven't kept up with rap the past 10 years and asked to be put up on new music...I doubt anyone recommended you Lil Baby based on your tastes but Lil Baby is huge. He has a 5x plat single with Drake and a 7x single from his collab tape with Gunna not to mention a handful of other 1-4x plat singles and albums.
Oct 12, 2020 Probably just never got into my recommended videos on Youtube since I don't listen to that kind of rap. But yea, looking at the views he does seem very popular. I was lying a bit. I did see his name pop up a couple times before but I couldn't tell you what he looks like and haven't heard any of his songs until now.
Oct 13, 2020 check out the album! I wasn't 100% sold on Baby for a while but he's become one of my most listened-to artists this year.
Oct 13, 2020 Fair enough - if you dont like it you dont like it. But curious - who in your opinion are some newer artists who you think have superstar potential?
