Orwell: 1984 and Animal Farm of course. Both near perfect novels (with 1984 being slightly more perfect).
Arthur Miller: Though he's a playwright, he is one of the greatest writers ever. The Crucible, Death of a Salesman, and All My Sons are all brilliant.
Ayn Rand: The Fountainhead and Anthem both changed my life upon reading them and The Fountainhead is probably my favorite book ever (maybe 1984 or Gatsby, but probably The Fountainhead). Atlas Shrugged is nice too.
    F. Scott Fitzgerald: Gatsby was one of the books that got me into writing and was huge inspiration for me when I wrote my book.
Shakespeare: As a theatre major, it's impossible to not recognize and appreciate the absolute brilliance of Shakespeare. Hamlet, Macbeth, and Othello are probably his finest works (and some of the finest pieces of writing ever), but 12th Night and Midsummer are probably my favorites of his.

People make fun of the cult around HST but he was really one of those generationally-talented writers. I'm actually reading Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail right now.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez without a doubt.

The way he perfectly captures the atmosphere of the environments in his books is absolutely astonishing. One Hundred Years of Solitude and Chronicles of a Death Foretold are must reads.

Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Traii is exceptional. id say it should be your blueprint but its influence is already everywhere

    Lol intuitive guys

@Translucent salinger was another favorite in hs. Reading "Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters" after seeing Royal Tenenbaums was incredible. Somewhere Online there's a bootleg video of my friends and I shooting a play of
"Just Before the War with the Eskimos"

You should read the book he wrote on the h---'s Angels, I read it last summer and it's fascinating.

I honestly don't follow specific authors as much as I should cuz I just kinda read whatever, but I'm a big fan of Cormac McCarthy. The Road and No Country For Old Men are amazing obviously. Blood Meridian is a masterpiece.

I can still read Catcher In The Rye cover to cover and still enjoy it as much as I did in hs.

Oh you didn't miss anything on that front--haven't announced anything on here. Book that comes out 9/26 is not the BP one, just a collection.

A book about BP from you needs to happen bro. Either way make a thread when the book is released to remind us. I'll be picking it up for sure.
