May 15, 2018 I like where it's at right now, sure there is a lot of copying/repetition since most of them are following the --- and Uzi formulas but every so often you stumble onto someone thats finding a new sound to push the genre. I think electronic-rap been around for some time since EDM producers love having a popular mainstream rapper spit a verse for the extra views, the question is will it ever be a dominant sound? I think 6IX9INE might be very influential here in NY, it's already been heading towards an ultra-aggressive Atlanta hybrid but he might be the first of many more to come.
May 15, 2018 I can see the genre taking a complete 180 from where it is now, and Yachty's brand of "all positive vibes" bubblegum rap is exactly that. Not even a fan of his, but wouldn't be surprised if more people didn't start running with that style.
May 15, 2018 69 has a chance, if he can keep out of major trouble. The young generation is into his character. Plus, he has that troll mentality that can hype up a wild beef or situation that he’s in.
May 15, 2018 Everyone is talking about him. The hottest artists worldwide currently. Look at his charts. All his singles chart. Wasn’t like a 1 hit wonder. He brings a certain energy to the game I haven’t seen since Bobby got locked up. I’ll Be curious in 2 years when Bobby is out what he will do with 69. Plus the entertainment 69 brings us. Other “gangster” artist always calling him out telling him to “check in” when he goes to certain areas and 69 does what he wants regardless of what some goons say. It’s hilarious seeing grown mind lose their minds over 69 threatening him then with 69 usually s--- talking back. He brings a entertainment package. Sure, there’s others that may make “better” music, but the character themselves have to be hot and needs to know how to stay relevant. 69 is good with that.
