Illmatic is the only great Nas album. The rest of his stuff is just 'good'. Kanye has two (or more) great albums. Jay is monotone.

really depends on your personal taste. his style switches up every album

If you like old school sampled / soul / "lyrical" hip hop, College Dropout. You'll really get where he comes from / him as a person when you listen to this

If you like more orchestra / live sounding music, Late Registration

Graduation is probably the most forgettable IMO but still is a great album and still has its gems. Really big, upbeat stadium music. Said he was inspired by U2. "Can't Tell Me Nothing" really influenced rap/trap at the time and you'll notice how when you relisten to it

808s is classic, and it is said that it opened the door for artists like drake, future, etc. It was created out of the death of his mother, and his long time gf/fiancé leaving him. IN THE SAME YEAR. Heavily autotuned / singy with a lot of pain

MBDTF is known as his greatest album (so far) so that's a good starting point of you want to see what he's capable of. Very maximal, a lot of features, and such a great album.

Yeezus is hard to digest and is his most polarizing album, but it's my personal favorite. Might want to hold off on that though if you're not too into Kanye yet. Really synthy and minimal, almost an "over-the-top" version of what many trap artists are doing today (nowhere near the same level though)

TLDR: Try MBDTF first, then from there go with your personal taste. I tried describing the sounds of each album so you'll have an easier time choosing
