Mar 30, 2017 i am just so impressed with thug's 2017 output. namely: - safe - bit bak - his verse on sacrifices (with drake and 2 chainz) - his dominance on heat stroke (with calvin harris) so who is challenging thug right now? kanye is a visionary, but the lengths he can take his music based on his production (not just his beats, but production as an all encompassing concept including use of features, arrangement, moods etc.) is more hit and miss than what young thug is consistently doing with his vocals alone. drake is great, but his album a year output really capped his ceiling as an artist. no matter how good his music is, he is not capable of blowing us away anymore future has come in to his own on future/hndrxx, and his natural grasp between the rap and pop elements of music are unparalleled outside of a select few in this genre, but young thug can match this, and even exceed it with a more diverse repertoire kendrick lamar is a rapper's rapper and i admire him for crafting an identity as an artist and marketing himself as that, but i promise you if both young thug and kendrick are ever on the same track rapping, kendrick will be washed. vince staples and YG should be recognized as well, but thug is better than both.
Mar 30, 2017 if i ranked, it would be Herb Thug Future Gibbs Kodak about to listen to this Kodak album now, Lil BIG Pac was amazing, hope this is just as good.
Mar 30, 2017 I think refined is the perfect word to describe his growth. Jeffrey is a very polished and accessible project. My favorite tapes, Slim Season 1 & 2, are kind of messy, sprawling and all over the place creatively. I liked him better untamed.
Mar 30, 2017 i'd take quite a few over him tbh, but that's not saying much, given i don't particularly like anything thug has ever done
Mar 30, 2017 imo vince could be the best rapper from the west coast rn, but he's like a dame lillard where he's elite but thug is like KD where he's generational
Mar 30, 2017 Thug is by far the best human making music rn Only ppl who are in his league are Grimes and Joanna Newsom
Mar 31, 2017 Don't hate him But he doesn't compare to Thug in the slightest and it's just such a random Ben choice, Thug got better projects, flow and IRL persona even. Just why Ben why?
