Outkast isn't that important for the south. Their debut album was mostly influenced by the style UGK already developed, and the rest of their albums was so unique that they didnt really have any direct influence on the southern style as a whole.

UGK & Three 6 Mafia are easily the most important and none other come close at all.

Hello! I'd like to congratulate you on your purchase of the Southern Rap Starter Pack, hope you enjoy it, and because of it decide to dive deeper into the south as a result of this.

    Yours truly,

nah, this isn't true--you can trace the kind of weirdness they have on Aquemini and even Stankonia all the way through present-day atlanta.

Using a vague term like "weirdness" to describe their influence just makes it seem like you don't know what you're talking about. Dungeon fam brought up Future, and his astronaut music was probably an extension of what they developed with ATLiens, but that part of his career is now completely overshadowed by the Honest - DS2 period. Other than that, the only blatantly Outkast influenced southern artist is Big KRIT, but KRIT is an embodiment of everything the south developed before he started his career in '04.

Outkast were definitely influential, they were just ahead of their time. Nobody would even take them seriously when Dre said "The South got something to say, y'all". And everything after Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik is just too avant garde to leave any mark on the south as a whole. Their legacy lies globally, as rappers like Kendrick show much more influence from Outkast than most southern artists do.
