Jan 29, 2016 I used to dislike Fewch and Thug but I wouldn't consider myself a real hhh ever, just uninformed
Jan 29, 2016 But for real at a time when tyga made rack city I hated rap and only liked Kanye Eminem and lil Wayne and a little drake. So basically only main stream rappers. I remember my dmx phase, thought he was the goat. Not the poster the rapper
Jan 29, 2016 It's not a "phase"... it's the best kind of hip-hop to me.. it's the era I'm from.. so I prefer it I'm not knocking anyone else's preference though; I just think all trap music sounds the same and is terrible in my personal opinion I enjoy classic No Limit, Cashmoney, Screwed Up Records, but all that is good..it's just my era.. hey, I enjoy some Riff Raff, a tad bit of Future on occasion.. but 99.9% of that stuff isn't for me but hey I'm just a "dusty real hip-hop fan" what do I know
Jan 29, 2016 I don't think I did, i never really stanned lyrical miracle multi syllable rappers. I liked Eminem and thought he was the best, then listened to more hip-hop and found out theres a lot of rappers better than him.
Jan 29, 2016 No. I like a good amount of 90s hip-hop but I dont see how anyone could listen to that exclusively
Jan 29, 2016 Back when my tastes were limited I thought he was good too. It's amazing how a few years later your musical tastes can change.
Jan 29, 2016 I was pretty open-minded for the most part but I did have a bigger preference towards rappers that leaned more towards the conscious side and were considered lyrical acrobats a couple years back (think Lupe,Common,Jay,Nas,Outkast). Also I did revere 90s Rap to be completely untouchable and can't be compared, I still hold it in high regard it's just in the proceeding years there has also been equally great music & artists.
Jan 30, 2016 I agree with @Bleed It was never about "reel" oder "unreal" Hip Hop. Who decides that anyway ? There's some R n B that is so incredibly well crafted and composed that I absolutely love (Example : What goes aroun comes around ) Not to offend anybody but a lot of trap fans use this nomenclature in a defensive way because people usually tend to label trap music in a bad way. It is about interesting/lasting and uninteresting music for me. I dont consciencly decide what I like, it has to click with me sonically and provide some interesting thoughts an stories in the long run. The beat on Tyga's rack city for instance has the same old patterns and compostion that make my ears bleed. I was getting tired of it especially as I left my teens, I grew out of it. And this is not even only about content, it's about the same old beat compositions. And I dont think its a coiincidence that these artists usually start to vanish after a short period of time. That is just my personal take. Taste differs and thats fine.
