Jay Z and Tupac are the only other people that 40+ non-pop culture and non avid music people really know of, besides Eminem.

    Talking about the rap genre.

No you really can't bring Jay into the equation, shitloads of people don't know jay z or only know him as beyonces husband that raps

He's way closer to Eminem level recognition than Kanye, though. He's moderately in the discussion and level of Tupac and Eminem recognition.

    Yeah we still lose

Maybe but I don't see many younger people knowing or caring about who he is, as opposed to someone like Kanye or Kendrick. Same for pac and big or nas etc. whoever you want to put in there from the golden era.

4:44 related s--- was all I saw on my social media (Facebook, IG) for like 2 weeks during the 4th of July. Jay was a genius for the visuals, because they really resonated well with viral attention.

    Eminem >>>>>>Tupac>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jay Z

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dre, Snoop>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Everyone else

Talking about 'older' people, non avid music listeners, non-forum goers

This is omitting current pop stars cause it's not fair to count people who are being blasted on tv and such right now

Not sure about that tbf. There’s no real way of quantifying it anyway. Beyonce and Jay Z have built an empire tho

Thinking about it Tyler was wayyyy off tbh

Eminem dwarfs Kanye multiple times over to people who don't follow music or pop culture

Like it is remarkable when you think about it, Ye has had a successful 15ish year run

Like saying Eminem is ingrained into pop culture doesn't even describe it...Kanye is ingrained into pop culture. Eminem and his persona is a culture phenomenon

It's definitely thanks to his skin color but I think thats just the start of it, I think word of mouth is what really carried him

Him being white and 'okay for the whites to listen to' is like 80% of it. The culture was different back then to, things lasted longer there wasn't a flavor of the month things didn't just come and go.
