Think about it like this. In 10 or so years our generation will be the older people and we will by majority be far more familiar with Kanye West than Jay Z.

That generation will raise their young, the younger gen, to be more familiar with Ye than Jay and so they will be.

    And the cycle will continue

Kendrick will probably be the most famous rapper by the time you have kids, if he keeps going.

I'll even go as far as to say Jay Z is more well known for his music right now than Tupac. Tupac's music has a great range for having been dead for 20+ years...but the fact that he existed and everyone knows it overshadows what he actually did-- as far as current white america and non music listeners go.

What I'm saying is more percentage of people right now know Jay z off of him being a musician than Tupac...they know Tupac because he was supposedly a musician and because his existence and character are phenomenon status. Sad but I think that's the case

What do you mean supposedly a musician. I think you mean they know of him more than they know his music, same could be said about people like Chance although thats a bad comparison

I'm having a hard time articulating what I'm saying. More people know Jay Z because of him being a musician and hearing him/seeing him/him actually being apart of modern media and such for 20 years

Majority know Tupac because who he was is a facet of pop culture...these same people didn't necessarily discover Pac's music or anything

Ur post was sort of what I meant though

True where as people know Bruce Willis from his actual output of movies. Jackie Chan is still more well known

Maybe that isn't factual but u get my point now. That's Jay Z and Tupac. I still say it goes Em, Tupac, Jay worldwide though

In terms of sales, no, he’s not even close. He prob doesn’t even have 10% of ems global sales.

    Em
Plus Jay and Kanye feels more culturally relevant than Em but Em is still more famous and popular.
