Jan 28, 2021 BUMP. I think I have to go with 50 here. Snoop OPENLY uses ghostwriters and his influence in music is very limited post 90's, unless you count Wiz Khalifa(which is a stretch). And people barely know him to be a rapper anymore. Snoop is just seen as a funny stoner who hangs out with Martha Stewart nowadays. He's hardly even associated with rap anymore. 50 barely is either but he's much more known for music than Snoop and many gangster rappers worldwide cite 50 and Pac as influences as opposed to Snoop. 50 pioneered the mixtape formula that's been copied by Wayne and others after him, has GRODT and G-Unit in his bag, successful TV Shows, practically birthed the Drill scene, executive produced Pop Smoke's album, and was sampled by Migos last year. If Snoop's considered a legend, it's mostly because of Doggystyle and peaking in the Golden Era alongside more legendary rappers like Pac, Nas, Wu, Biggie, Scarface, Cube, etc. 50 didn't peak in the 90's so he doesn't get the "90's hip hop nostalgia" stimulus like Snoop but I feel 50's objectively done more legendary things than Snoop in rap if you look at it objectively. Both fell off the face of the Earth musically and are mostly ABC rhymers but at least 50 doesn't openly use writers like Snoop(or smart enough not to reveal it if he does). So, I say 50's more of a legend, even though I prefer Doggystyle over any of his music.
Jan 28, 2021 Who the f--- cares if Snoop uses ghostwriters? You realize he also wrote for people too, right?! 50 has had a huge influence too but helping pioneer Drill is a far reach. Snoop has been a continuing cultural icon who has put out hits in the last decade. 50 has struggled to stay relevant and is pretty much only relevant at this point because of Power and his former legal disputes with Rick Ross.
Jan 29, 2021 50 cent. He popularized the mixtape scene. Dropped 2 classics, brought us g unit. The list with 50 goes on.
