But its still just a bad album, isn't it?
Btw, what would pitchfork think about their writer resorting to insults like "twat" in these sensitive times?BIGFOOT, Tal and lil uzi vert stan like this. - Nov 23, 2025

Exactly man. Listen to square dance, f---ing h---, the rhyming was soooo effortlessly smooth and natural. Content, amazing rhyme schemes, flow and voice. 2002 Em was magnificentNov 23, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Yes. I agree.
I love Recovery but there are so many reasons that made that album great for sales. Eminem’s popularity. Eminem’s age. The buzz for him coming back to rap in 09/10. The type of music that was mainstream at the moment and a large etcetera.
Look at revival is the perfect example. Some recovery type songs but in 2017.
I think Em will never be so popular again and it’s not because the quality of music. Maybe great reactions like the days that Rap God or Kamikaze dropped.Last edited: Jun 19, 2020Alpha, Guma and THE LAST DANCE like this. -

Kamikaze is cool in as far as it sounds like he was finally making the music that he wanted to again after three albums of vapid nothingness, but it doesn’t sound as natural or fun as it would on MTBMB, almost like he was forcing itGuma, Michael Myers and RetiredAccount like this. -

What a mess of an argument you've spread out over multiple horrendous posts. -

Yeah Kamikaze had the opposite effect on me from MTBMB where at first I thought it was cool cuz it stuck to a theme and was concise but after a few spins there was no reason for me to play back Em being mad about current rap again lol.
With MTBMB I thought it was awful my first play because holistically it's a huuuuuuge mess and thematically it doesn't really work. But after another couple listens I came more around to some of it on a song-by-song basis and it's more Em showing his love for rap and collaborative nature instead of being mad that playboi carti exists. -

I almost made a song dissin' Lil Wayne
It's like I was jealous of him 'cause of the attention he was gettin'
I felt horrible about myself, he was spittin' and I wasn't
Anyone who was buzzin' back then coulda got it
Almost went at Kanye too
God, it feels like I'm goin' psychotic, thank God that I didn't do it
I'da had my a--- handed to me, and I knew it
But Proof isn't here to see me through it
I'm in the booth, poppin' another pill, tryna talk myself into it
Are you stupid? You're gon' start dissin' people for no reason?
'Specially when you can't even write a decent punchline even? You're lyin' to yourself, you're slowly dyin'
You're denyin' your health is declinin' with your self-esteem
You're cryin' out for help
I liked the way he acknowledged the mistake of making a diss song just like that, for no reason. And this is the reason Kamikaze is the worst album of his career. How would Proof look at it if he were alive? Eminem lost himself in 2018.
Better release Recovery 2 than a f---ing Kamikaze.
